It is more likely that Waverly Hills is the episode on tap for tonight. Like the Stanley, Ghost Hunters has been here a few times, too. Three also I think. The same is true here as I mentioned in the Stanley post…from those three visits, including a long Halloween investigation, we get a pretty good idea of what to expect. GH can sometimes embellish, but they for the most part keep it down a bit.
There's a full moon for this investigation which, as Aaron says, means more activity…just like a thunderstorm can cause. Tell me something…as wild of things as these guys have seen, experienced, and shown to us, just what MORE activity could there possibly be? Is someone's head going to explode? Will a possessed Aaron actually throw Nick from the top floor?
But, as we now know, this stuff is all real so we should try to watch and learn.

And enhanced solar activity. That is supposed to increase paranormal activity also. So come sunspot peak in 2013 +/- we should all be rolling in ghosts. Personally I'm hoping to catch a hissy whistler, but that's another story completely.

I've never heard them personally, but a guy I used to work for was pretty renown for his photographs of them and said you could occasionally hear them pretty good.

I have been to Waverly Hills on a few occasions for the overnight stay with the ghost hunting group I have and I can tell you that there some problems I had with tonights episode. I have done a lot of research on Waverly and since my brother lives right down the road from it I visit around that area often. One thing they never mention is after the TB hospital shut down it was reopened as a geriatric's home. There was horrible cases of abuse and finally the home was shut down after they had many deaths due to negligence. This is the first I have ever heard of people claiming to see Dopplegangers and some creature known as the creeper. The guy on this episode was dressed like the Louisville Paranormal Society members. They all wear black leather vests and black hats just like this guy. They look like a biker gang at times. Yet again we have an entity calling out Zak by name. I have never talked with anyone that has had this experience in this place. I have studied the shadow people at this location and they still at times have me baffled. We would use laser grids across a darkened hallway and watch through out camera with IR lights. We caught one coming into the laser grid and the lasers would actually stop on the figure, they would not penetrate through it. That was one thing that always had me scratching my head. I wish I had the video of it to share. For some reason they neglected to talk about one of the proposed most haunted places in Waverly, which is the electro shock therapy room which they used when it was a geriatrics home. They left a lot of the building out on this one. I also don't trust there new form of equipment that senses when something is near it. It only went off while they where in the room and never hit again when they left which makes it seem like the device could easily be manipulated from a distance.

I have a logic problem with black masses. If they are entities that absorb light, then wouldn't it be far easier to spot them in the daytime or with the lights on?

Does your group still have it? Would be something I think the folks here would enjoy seeing.

I am trying to get the video right now actually. When we first got together is when we did the shadow people test and at that time I didn't own a camcorder so we used one of the members of the groups. The guys that we used is the computer teacher at a local college. Last I talked to him he still has all of the videos that we had, its just a matter of getting up with him and looking through the dvd's for it. I want to watch it again myself.
From my understanding the black masses that they call shadow people is visible in the daytime and at nighttime. Several of the former staff members at Waverly claim to have seen them during the daytime. The Louisville Ghost Hunters used to have some videos online of the these black masses during the day time.
Edit- I forgot to mention, on last nights episode they had to go completely dark because Waverly has no power in the building and no lights. They have safety lights on certain spots of the halls in the floors that are battery operated. They ran a line on the top floor that connects to a socket so that you can charge your gear if you need to but outside of that there is no power in the building.

Saw the first part of one of the replays last night and was probably starting to fall asleep at the time so bear with me…did they not catch some activity while it was still pretty much full daylight…and then Zak went and high-fived everyone? Seems to me it doesn't make a difference there whether it's night or day with this bunch. Not that that really means anything.
Was that the only thing that happened when it was light out? As I and others have said here…ambiance seems to be the main reason for going dark. Drama. Make it exciting for the viewers…and if it's STILL not exciting for them…add in the loud, crappy, annoying, cheesy, overbearing, distracting, obnoxious sound effects and music (not talking just GA here, EVERY show)

They did catch two shadow things on the show this episode. I'm not sure what to make of them.

The video of the first shadow figure intrigues me. I've been watching it over and over. I wish I had a better video copy. The original would be nice but all I have to work with is a blurry xvid. Never the less….
A few observations. They have totally maxed out the capabilities of this camera. Multiple hot pixels are seen as thermal noise of the CCD rises. The frame integration time is also very slow. So slow in fact that if a real person was to walk down this hallway they would be smeared, much like in the video from motion blur. Mmmm.
Now it's hard to tell on my copy but it also looks like this shadow figure is casting a shadow on the opposite side wall for a couple of frames.
I think this may be a real person that walked down the hall and turned right (camera's left).

Hand on my chin, intently thinking. Where, oh where, have we seen something like that before? (including direction of turn) Don't these things ever come right up to the camera? This looks like it's repeated on Tuesday so I shall try to do a high bit-rate DVR of it.

Just thinking about this, we have three guys dressed in black running around in the dark and a couple of black masses show up. Mmmm.
So I did a FoF trick and tried to recreate the scene by attempting to video a black mass. It's not the same, the hallway is obviously different in a number of ways.
Attempt 1. It's quite dark, the camera is maxed out and poor video quality in typical ghost hunters style.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fNwjbj7K9Q
Attempt 2. It's light enough now to fully illuminate everything. Probably a bit too light.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7NHbCnn8YM
You may notice a white mass moving along the floor in the second one. That is my cat wondering what the heck I'm up to lol.
The first is more convincing than the second I think because you can't see as well and camera noise is providing camouflage.

Great test…a lot of the "ghost videos" I've seen on YouTube are very similar so if nothing else, I think a wide debunk or at least possible explanation was shown here.
Okay…that's you wandering around probably normal speed. Did you try anything where you deliberately slowed down your gait? They both looked pretty good but the first one was probably closer to what the Waverly footage looks like since I'm assuming they wouldn't have been filming in the brightness that is seen in the second of your videos? I haven't seen their footage, but considering everything we've been treated to as far as evidence from them, it's all looked a lot closer to the first video you posted.
Obviously you couldn't recreate exactly…how would you say the distance compared in your setup to what GA had?
Was that with a wireless setup which might explain the frame-rate drop?
There's one more thing I think you should try if you are attempting to do this FoF style. Do you have access to an ATV? :)

LOL. No sorry but I do have a ride-on mower. That might do in a pinch.
Yes the distance down the hall is the biggest difference. The camera was direct wired. The apparent frame rate drop is due to frame integration, slow shutter or "sense-up" as they calll it in the menu. The Waverly shadow is similar. They only show a couple of frames anyhow so if you took the best of mine it's starting to get close I think.
I walked fast, slow and everything in between, which might be why I'm more "solid" in some frames. It was dark, couldn't see too well and was worried the cat was going to spring on me any minute. He does that.
I want to see GH/GA/GHI etc out-takes where they trip and hurt themselves. I can't believe they don't do that more often.

Ok, I looked at both of Learjet's video experiments. Personally, I believe that he's completely wrong about them. They are NOT of him. Learjet is lying to us! They are of GHOSTS! Ghosts…and a ghost cat. This it it! The motherload! Finally…proof of the after-life!
Excellent job, my friend. I especially like the first video. With a little work, I think you could be dead on (no pun…).
As for the episode…they lost me at "doppelgangers." Then again, if I ran ghost tours, I'd introduce the doppelganger theory as well. In the world of the paranormal, it's actually a prefect vehicle for ghost tours. If you ever see me, it might not be "me"…it's my doppelganger! Ooooo…spooky. Seriously?

They really pissed me off with this whole Doppleganger and creeper crap that they pulled. I have been talking with other people that have been to Waverly also and to some of the guys at the Louisville Ghost Hunters (who this guy is a member of) and they have never heard any of these stories either!
Anybody else find it hilarious that all of these locations have been investigated numerous times and Zak and his crew is the only ones to ever get something calling them by name? Every location they go to, everything there automatically knows their names. Usually they exploit the creepiest locations in these buildings to build up suspense but on this episode they left out over half of the building of Waverly. They definitley left out the creepiest parts.
Also, speaking of my work with EVP's in the past. I used to do a lot of research on EVP's and in a lot of my investigations we would get them, but almost all of them could be easily explained. They almost always just a noise that happens within a fraction of second. From the things that I have read it is extremly rare to get an EVP that would go on for more than one word (or what they say is words, which usually are just background nose) but these guys ALWAYS get full sentences! For something that is said to be very rare these guys seem to defy that logic by getting a full sentence every minutes!
Back to Waverly. One thing that these never touched upon that I was talking about earlier is that a lot of people who believes something is going on at Waverly, believes it is steming more from the abuse that was occuring when it was a geriatrics home rather than the deaths caused by TB. Sure there was a lot of deaths caused by TB but there was also a LOT of deaths caused by abuse when it was reopened as the geriatrics home. When the state closed it down, it was so bad and gave the location such a black eye that it was rarely mentioned again. Yet these guys just played on the TB cases and all of their "EVP's" where TB related. Seems to me that since you have a building that is split with multiple deaths occuring from different situations that at least a few of them would belong to the later geriatric time at the hospital if they where really trying to convince people they where catching something.

I recall during one investigation (Remington Arms?) there was a very good scene where one of them, possibly Zak, ashcans himself on a desk so yes, I agree, I'm sure there are a number of edits where things like that happen lol
Okay, I think I was trying to do this wrong then…I went to IR, but it sounds like you were shooting in normal light mode in a darkened hall but just took the shutter speed down? When I tried with normal light, I either couldn't see anything (too dark) or I could (light), but in either case, everything was normal speed. The times I could see, I had lightened the room too much. I had not altered the shutter though.

The camera I'm using is a Mintron security "box" type frame integration camera. Without a lens filter, the CCD will record anything from about 1000 – 350nm or essentially IR to UV. Almost like a full spectrum camera, though I suspect those have a flatter bell curve on the spectrum than mine.
The camera is fully programmable via menu and I had it maxed out at 128x sense-up with AGC on full. It's very sensitive on this setting and only needs starlight for illumination. Frame integration time at 128x sense-up is about 2.5 seconds which means for 2.5 seconds the camera stores and combines 128 field frames. Meanwhile the camera still spits out 25 fps analog video down the video lead to sync with video recorders, TV's and capture devices. The end result looks like slow shutter.
Just think of a still camera taking consecutive 2.5 second exposures. That's basically what it does (on that setting).

So it's pretty much doing internal image stacking for each frame? So then if you or an object is moving during that 2.5 seconds that explains the apparent "transparency"
I played some more on mine and while I can adjust shutter/exposure it doesn't appear that I can take the rate down that low either in IR or normal light…shutter is still measured in tenths of seconds rather than full seconds.
Now, my other option is with my DSLR and setting it up on interval-shooting, and then cranking up the ISO and going to 2-second exposures every 2 seconds. And then animating the images…although I think I might need a MUCH bigger memory card!
