So I was surfing around today and I found this home study course. For only $400 USD I too can be a certified paranormal investigator! http://www.ghostweb.com/cpi.html

My personal favorite area of study is titled "Dangers of the Ouija Board".

"Certified"?  Would that be the same as certifiable?   Undecided

Someone at this website needs to pony-up $400 and get 'officially certified.'

But not me….

This doesn't surprise me as I think that many people are trying to cash in on the popularity of the Paranormal. I am the Co-Founder of a Paranormal team and we do not charge a cent for what we do. We do it because we want to seek the truth and we enjoy it. We have driven as many as 5 hours from our home on our "own dime" and we will continue to do so, although pizza is always a considerate gesture.Laughing

It is in our opinion that there are no professionals in this field and those that make such claims will probably try to rob you blind in one way or another.

$400!  I'll certify you for only $350.  I'm an expert in demonology, cryptozoology, paranormal investigation, dowsing, and many other things.  Prove that I'm not.  Tongue out  Laughing

Actually, some time ago I wrote about my view on "paranormal experts" in a thread called "Defying The Experts and Smurfs."  Take a gander when you get a chance.  It's hard work to interweave Smurfs into the fabric of a post about the paranormal… Wink

Thanks for the link to your article Rev! That was a really great piece. The Kenneth Deel thing cracked me up! I think I met that guy backstage at a Lynnard Skynnard concert in the late 80's, but that's another story…

Given your definition of expert in your article, I agree, we are all pretty close (if not all the way there) to being "paranormal experts". I'm getting ready to start on my own website, and my training will only be $300 to certify people. I just need to go to the office supply store and get some of those blank certificate thingys…and I plan to have WAY more pics of myself on my site than Kenneth Deel does, which, I believe, will go a long way towards validating me as a ghost hunting VIP. I also plan to boldly state (right above my PayPal link) that people who are using ghost hunting endeavors to make money are just plain evil. And for only $50 more I will provide the additional training explaining why this is so! Tongue out

That is just so disgusting!!!  Money mouth  Notice how much of this is about "grieving" too, so they appear to be targeting people who've just lost a loved one.  Nice…

Hey, check out their main home page.  There's a set of 3 of their very own "ghost" photos near the top: The first one is a mightly fine looking camera strap if I do say so myself.  Wow, impressive.

When people say to beware of ghost sites with "Paypal" links on them, obviously it's this site they're largely referrng to.  They must be setting a record!

Having an open mind is a two way street.
