Hopelessly Locked In A "Fear Cage"

When one strolls through the hallowed halls of SV, two things become very clear.  The first…that you can't throw a rock and not hit a thread that doesn't mention "EMF" at least once.  We are virtually haunted by the gobbly-gook surrounding, enveloping, and producing the literally feared…EMF.  The sign that you are a true SV member is the moment that you scream at the TV when some green and white character starts spouting off the evil characteristics of EMF and explains the "fear cage" concept.  Perhaps if all of us scream in unison…someone will hear.  Maybe it go away.  But all of us know…this isn't going to happen.  In fact, it's going to get worse…

Wandering through the web, I found this:

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2010/08/15/ontario-wifi.html

Yes…Wi-Fi is the new fear cage.  Sweet.  Great.  Super… Undecided

Stephen had this to say in the recent GHI: Fredriksten Fortress review: "Next, Paul and Brandy investigate reports of a shadow that climbs stairs inside. Paul holds his EMF meter about an inch from an EXIT sign and gets very excited when he gets a reading of 30. Paul– it's called the inverse square law. Move the meter down about a foot, over by where anyone would be standing, and you'll find that that 30 goes away quite nicely. They then discover that beneath the staircase is (BUM BUM BUM) a refrigerator, which sends a terror-inducing field of 2 milligauss onto the stairs. Guys, you have got to be kidding me. Even if there were solid evidence of household EMF causing hallucinations (which there isn't), 2 milligauss is pretty close to normal background."

This is a great example of the nonsense that we must endure from TAPS concerning just EMF.  Just wait until TAPS gets a hold of this new info.  Fear has a new name and it is Wi-Fi.  And you KNOW…we are going to see this somewhere down the road.  "There's a theory about Wi-Fi…" Yell

Oh…at the beginning of this post, I said that "two" things become very clear.  The second thing?  My head always begins to hurt when talking about EMF and all the misunderstanding surrounding it.  Then again…I'm always online when I type, therefore…using Wi-Fi!  Suddenly…I'm very afraid… Surprised

This is just ludicrious.Think of all the people working day in,day out,8 hours a day in some office on a computer.i use a computer , a copier and an electronic duplicator in my job running the print shop for the local school district.Never have asked the copier repair tech how much emf the copier gives off, but it must be some doozy of a number. With the computer, wow, i should be climbing the walls, hair falling out, etc.

The people in our IT department should be growing another arm or two, maybe green scales on their face, but no, they're normal. Last time my sister and brother in law came for a visit in January, they acted normal , and they work in television. My sister used to work for a satellite company, before she worked for Court Tv.Wonder how much emfs the router gave off.

If you ask me, the kids are like all kids, allergic to school. Interesting how when they aren't in school they are fine.Maybe if they stayed off the cell phone and quit texting and weren't glued with their faces to a tv set playing some video game they wouldn't have these symtoms.I don't know what's behind all this with these parents and the school district, but I smell a lawsuit in the works.Yup, wouldn't be surprised to later read they tried to extort moneyfor their precious darlings.

I hear ya Revenant. Every time I see an EMF meter on one of these shows I prepare the hobby horse (soapbox) for a long ride.

So Wi-Fi is the new evil is it? With a statement like the following I would bet the parents are avid Ghost Hunters fans.

"Some parents in the Barrie, Ont., area say their children are showing a host of symptoms, ranging from headaches to dizziness and nausea…… They believe the Wi-Fi setup in their kids' elementary schools may be the problem…..

"These kids are getting sick at school but not at home," he said……..

"I'm not saying it's because of the Wi-Fi because we don't know yet, but I've pretty much eliminated every other possible source."

What a load of moo poo. Eliminated every other possible source indeed. They have no idea! As I suppose most of the population don't either.

The safety levels of Wi-Fi, and for that matter just about every other piece of radiating equipment is well established. In the USA the FCC and in my country the ACMA have already provided guidelines and legislation for anything that radiates RF over a few milliwatts. The spectrum is carefully planned, monitored and managed in each of our countries. Commercially available equipment has to be "type approved" and have a sticker on it stating such.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel here. Our governing bodies have gone to great lengths and research to establish safe levels in the workplace and in the home and restricted access to imports of dodgy equipment.

Of course that doesn't stop certain people making a 1kw Wi-Fi transmitter from bits of microwave oven parts in the basement (which some people do lol). But legally speaking you can't use non approved basement designed equipment in public, like schools or work place without adhering to the regulations. Doing so would result in litigation.

"Claims by Health Canada that Wi-Fi is safe provided exposures to radiation are below federal guidelines are "outdated and incorrect," based on the growing number of scientific publications reporting adverse health and biological effects, Havas wrote.
With "independent studies" I bet. There's always some lab out there with an agenda. It's wide spread consensus from the scientific community we need. That's the only type our legislation should be based upon, not a few badly done studies that no one else can duplicate. Michael Persinger anyone?

Yes, I couldn't help to think of TAPS, their view of the all mighty "fear cage" and their recent jaunt into Canada.  Maybe they did have an impact during their trip…Laughing

And I really laughed when I read the "eliminated every other possible source" as well.  My very first experiment?  Place the children in a room to test and record all of their symptoms.  Of course, the room would be a giant Faraday Cage.  Outside the room…many lights (blinking and non-blinking), wires, cables and all kinds of do-dads (with all the Wi-Fi shut down).  Something tells me we would see all kinds of symptoms.  Maybe even some new ones when I pretend to "turn up the intensity (I mean why not?  What do they really know about it and if I could actually turn up the intensity?)."  And if the parents began complaining and yelling…I'd tell them to settle down or I'd shoot them with a "psychic blast" and blow up their heads like in "Scanners."  I mean if they believe Wi-Fi is harming their kids…why wouldn't they believe that I could blow up their heads with my psychic ability?  (I saw this in an old episode of "South Park" tonight…and it made me laugh…)

In a few threads around these parts, there are discussions concerning the "fear cage" factor and MRI's(Magnetic Resonance Imaging).  Talk about high RF energy…you've got to break out the SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) before you cook someone.  But um…funny thing…no signs of the fear cage or ghosts though.

And I've worked in many labs.  EMF readings can go through the roof (at least when OSHA and ISO aren't around…Tongue out ).  If it's a research lab with more exotic equipment and deadlines hanging around your neck…gear can get tweaked to high heaven.  No fear cage…no ghosts…

But back to Wi-Fi.  I'm infinitely more worried about tripping over my dogs or stubbing my toe on my kitchen table than I am to my exposure to minute quantities of non-ionizing EM radiation from my Wi-Fi transmitter.

(Lastly…sorry for the late response.  I've somehow managed to delete several attempts in posting this.  Maybe the Wi-Fi is getting to me… Surprised … Laughing )

I wonder how many folks realize the amount of radio waves going through their house even if they don't have WiFi. Think about it, that device in your living room that you can turn on and tune to a station and hear sports, talk, or music wouldn't work if there weren't no radio waves reaching it….I mean, that's probably one of the reasons it's called a radio! Or maybe it's the other way around, but still!

After reading some of the reponses to this article (only got to page 3, couldnt handle it anymore Tongue out ), the most mind-boggling one I read was this:

"First of all why do these children need WI-FI internet in the classoom???? will the children be sitting at their desk eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and surfing the net??? I think the school board is just being cheap and trying to justify the use of wi-fi as a replacement for wired connections which cost way more. Lets get the cables installed and computers placed on the desks where they should be. Who will be using the wi-fi, the teachers or principal??? i dont think they need the wi-fi so just eliminate it and save the kids from headaches/concentration issues. I can't believe we need to radiate our kids for 6 hours daily for the next 10 years. I think the kids will have cancers/diseases before they go to high school. We should conduct a study to see which kids have higher marks, the wi-fi kids or the cabled net kids. I bet the cable net kids will have higher marks."

After I read that one, I just couldnt go on…….DUH!  Foot in mouth

If your cat's speaking Latin, you might have a problem
