Skeptics can indeed be a buzzkill. That's why on the ghost hunt I was on I did my best to play along. I didn't claim to see or feel anything that I didn't, but I tried to be there as a participant, not as a critic.
Results were mixed. The team claimed to pick up some EVPs, but I wasn't too impressed. No apparitions or odd manifestations.
I think my teammates for that evening would be surprised to learn that I was a skeptic.

LOL, an undercover skeptic! You must have found it difficult to withhold some of your observations. You might then become a persona non grata.

I wasn't too deep undercover. My profile with the group clearly explains that I'm a skeptic. As far as I could tell, no one had read it. :) I didn't want to deceive anyone, but the brief attempts I made to interject skeptical comments (saying that Ghost Hunters might have faked some things, for example) I got some funny looks.
I solved this problem during EVP sessions. I carefully explained to any ghosts present that I was a very skeptical guy, but if they'd just appear, I'd consider it compelling evidence!

Ah but you're only a relatively level headed skeptic where Jason and Grant are hard core skeptics!

Stephen,
Interesting point you made about putting on your profile that you are a skeptic and you thought no one had read it. All these groups make claims that they do research and some claim even extensive research. We've seen some posts on and off here that have been very strange and questionable. So, going on a ghost hunt, you would think they would run into the same and at least investigate profiles of those involved. Isn't that the reason they ask you to fill out a profile? To me, I'd like to know about the people I'm going to travel to a location with and who is accompanying me into a dark and sometimes dangerous place. I would think you'd want the comfort of knowing and trusting those around you.

Okay, going to do some if-then logic here.
A) J&G are hard core skeptics. We've heard that with our own ears.
B) We've also heard that when skeptics are present the results won't be good.
We have some conflicting information here. IF J&G _are_ hard core skeptics, and they do always seem to find plenty of things, then the part about skeptics and their negative energy causing ghosts to not appear must not be true.
Or, if that IS true, then the part about J&G being hard core skeptics must not be true.
Quite frankly, I think there is a third "theory" I propose theory C) in which both A) and B) are total BS!

Being a member of IGHS, nothing that group does or says ceases to amaze me.

Yes, Rev., I liked your link too but I was sending thank yous to Alicat for the kids site. Next time I'll be sure to thank the instigator, um,..er.. the original poster first and then the subsequent posters.
..and yeah, I do like Alcati the best. Sorry. I know Mom isn't supposed to like and/or favor one kid over the others but…. ;)
