Hi to all my fellow skeptics.
I have been super busy over that past 6 months so I haven't even been able to check out our favorite shows, the forums, or participate here at all. (its a good kind of busy… lots of work and international business travel, but not to anyplace exciting like these shows).
Can you give me a one sentence summary of each of the shows? :-D
Here, let me help getting you started:
1. Has GH or GHI or GA or other like show found the Holy Grail of evidence yet? The proof we have all been waiting anxiously for?
2. Has DT found Yeti yet? They seemed to be getting close :-D
3. Any Alien's shows up at the White House?
and since I'm asking
4. Has Josh Gates got rid of that gender-bending scarf yet? Yes I get wearing a scarf when its -10 and snowing. Not in the Egyptian desert.
Anyways, hope to be around more.

1. No
2. No
3. Yes
4. It's called a shemagh. Use one quite often when off-roading and snowmobiling. Very handy actually.

I give Josh a pass on the "shemagh", since it is dashing in a Sir Richard Burton, 19th Century adventurer way, as well as being useful.
But someone needs to speak to him about the cowrie shell necklace. Cowrie shells were a graphic symbol in ancient Egypt for female fertility, and identical necklaces are widely depicted in art as protective charms for young girls. An awkward association and not pukka at all (puka necklaces of course havinga gender neutral association with money!.)
Though, according to this interview, the cowrie connection is something about which Josh remains sweetly innocent:

Yep…not the metal circle one on a leather cord…there is a cowrie shell one that drives me nuts. It looks like one junior high school boys wear when they think they are being cool.

Then what does it have to do with the video you posted? Which episodes has he worn it in?

Well, if Rommel could wear one wrapped like that, I don't think Josh has any call to be embarassed by wearing one.

Hello, my friend. It's been a very long time. Hmmm…first Oubliette and "D"…now Bobarino. Who's next? Bullerspoke or Dr Venkman? I feel like we're in a virtual, skeptical, paranormal version of "Red." Anyway…
1. Has GH or GHI or GA or other like show found the Holy Grail of evidence yet? The proof we have all been waiting anxiously for?
Hmmm…Holy Grail…I'm not sure of. But…if you're looking for eye-popping insanity and an absolute must-see episode…I would go with Lemp Mansion. I'm shaking my head even thinking about it…
http://www.skepticalviewer.com…..p-mansion/
On a personal level…there was an episode of DT that I found interesting. Overall, I felt it was a "down year" for DT, but this particular episode…hmmm…just intrigued me. Take a gander:

2. Has DT found Yeti yet? They seemed to be getting close :-D
I believe that you're referring to DT's season-ender a while back. Nothing really came of that. The DNA evidence seemed mildly interesting, yet…I have my reservations about the DNA database that they were using. It was an aspect that I never questioned until I saw the MQ "Feral Dog" episode and I looked into it (post #16). I found the database was terribly inadequate for what they were doing. And this is for dogs…an animal that we literally spend billions of dollars on. If we can't get that straight…I'm not holding out for an all-encompassing, all-knowing database for primates.
By saying that…I'm NOT saying that what DT found was "new" or even important. It may just be a slight deviation or sub-species of a very common animal and the test isn't good enough to show it or…like I said, the database is woefully incomplete.
Back to DT specifically…I believe they did go back to China and looked for a few things, but came up snake-eyes…
3. Any Alien's shows up at the White House?
According to Ancient Aliens…all humans are aliens or we are alien-hybrids (due to DNA manipulation by the aliens themselves). So…aliens show up at the White House, aliens live in the White House, an alien wrote this post and aliens are reading this post. Aliens. (I feel like I'm watching the GH Halloween special again…DODGE!)
As for the scarf…whether it makes his eyes "pop" or keeps sand out of them…don't care…
Alright, my friend. Again…welcome back. And as for that "one sentence summary" thing you asked for…yeah, have you been away for that long?

Hmmm, but if all humans are aliens…are we really "alien" anymore? I guess this one would all come down to which definition of alien is used lol
But on a more serious note, if alien is used to mean extraterrestrial then one would have to qualify it by saying "how far back" There is a very distinct possibility that we DO owe our genesis to extraterrestrial sources. Unfortunately, what I refer to is not something so exciting as beings from another planet coming down and altering our DNA but rather the catalyst for all life itself being from a passing comet which added just the right seasonings to the primordial soup…the "saltine crackers" as it were.
Back to DT specifically…if they would go back to their original premise and stop this ghost chasing business, they could still salvage themselves. But I fear they've been caught up in the latest craze and are trying to ride the ghost train for all it's worth. It's funny, you'd think that cryptids would be interesting enough unless it was the continual "failure" to find anything that the producers are fearful would cause people to lose interest. To me, it was the fact that they WEREN'T declaring every jungle and forest "cryptided" on each episode that made the show stand a step or two above the rest of what we've been treated to.

Speaking of aliens, I happened upon an episode of Ancient Aliens that claims that all of the mythical beasts in Greek Mythology was actually alien gene splicing done then and that aliens used In Vitro Fertilization to make the Virgin Mary and other such virgins pregnant without sex. I know the History channel has always been bad for fabricating things into their documentaries and war episodes but what is the deal with all of the conspiracy shows now? History Channel is the guy next door holed up in the bunker's wet dream!
As for Josh, I can forgive his shemagh but has anyone else noticed that in the first 2 seasons he was going bald fast and now he has his hair back? I'm guessing he is now the spokes person for Bosley.
