I was going to title this one Poltergeist Rapping, but then I decided we'd have too many people heading off to the music store to buy their latest CD. (Does anyone go to music stores anymore?)

Anyway, some descriptions of sound patterns obtained from human knocking vs the patterns of "unexplained" knocking. Take it for what you see:

Interesting spectral analysis of the audio. Though in the samples given they appear to be using different program FFT? settings, making them a little difficult to compare.

The numbers are too small for me to make out, so I can't tell if they're different or not. No doubt Learjet is right.

For basics, the article and/or the paper make the classic argument from ignorance: "I don't know what made this sound, so it must be a discorporate entity that defies all known laws of physics." All we can conclude is that the author doesn't know what made the sounds. That's fine. Neither do I. Doesn't make it a ghost.

Does anyone have a link to the original paper? I'd like to have a listen to the sounds associated with these spectrograms. (Spectrographs? Whatever.)

Haven't been able to find audio files of the sounds yet. Exactly right, though, prime example of it's unknown (thus may not fit the typical pattern) but because it's unknown, it's a poltergeist, thus a poltergeist rapping is different from normal rapping, thus it has to be… So much circular logic one tends to get a bit dizzy.

The paper only seems to be available to subscribers to the Journal of the Society of Psychical Research. I've contacted them about a subscription. We'll see when they get back to me.
