The movie was not worth it at all.

The commercials I've seen have been very vague. I was wondering if it was any good as well, but I assumed it wasn't. I'm saving my money for A Christmas Carol in Disney 3D! Laughing It's my favorite holiday story!

Whoever came up with the commercial for it took a page right out of GhostHunters.

Instead of showing us what's being seen and causing the excitement, all they show us is reaction shots of the @#%^Q@! audience.

I have one female friend who said is was great and she had a hard time sleeping for a couple of days… (hmm, Hey!   I just realized why she told me that… yea I'm slow.  Undecided   I'm not one to ask too many questions re that…   )

I have another friend, male, who said it was a pice of garbage and wouldn't be worth the $1 to rent it in a month.

I wonder if reaction to the movie breaks along gender lines?  I saw it with my husband and I liked it, but he was "over it" quickly.  He said he wasn't scared by it (though he did jump at times).

I found it fun and thought the movie makers did a good job creating tension and suspense.  I really liked the off camera scares, the subtle build of the unknown.  All the TV shows I watch with grainy night footage made the movie version seem familiar yet creepy.

It also made me wonder what the GH heroes would do if confronted by such "evidence."

Sounds like this could be the "date" movie of the year if it breaks along gender lines.  I'm curious about the "off camera scares" you mentioned but I don't want you to give anything away.

I'm also guessing the South Park episode might have been on the mark regarding GH being confronted by such "evidence". Laughing

What I liked about this movie is what reminded me of the 1963 movie, The Haunting.  It was chiefly the use of unexplained sounds off camera to create suspense.  Thus, it is your own imagination that creates the paranormal events in the stories. (Perhaps much like real life, where it's the unexplained that scares one – your uneasiness generated by your own mind).

That and the creation of ghostly effects that rivaled and surpassed Grant. (I'd be more specific, but I don't want to create any spoilers though…)

I read an article in the paper a couple of days ago about the director. He basically filmed the movie in his house over a 7 day period for the sum of 14,000.

He did all the special effects himself and the movie thus far raked in 40 million.

The movie stinks. But, I have to say the guy is a natural marketing wiz!

Feelings about this movie seem to run hot or cold.  Either you really liked it or you hated it.  Not much middle ground.

I just saw it.

I found myself watching it like an episode of GH.  If I had seen this movie a few years ago, it may have frightened me.  But instead I found myself saying "Oh I know how they did that" and have to keep reminding myself it WAS a movie, not a "reality" show.  It obviously used GH for reference (not a spoiler, but they even put powder on the floor to see if they could see footprints, etc.)

Bobarino's Review:  I give it a thumbs down…  if you really want to see it, wait for the rental.

I dunno, I kinda liked it.  I thought it was creepy, though they went waaay overboard with the ouija board scene. That nearly killed the whole thing.

The acting was decent, the dialog pretty natural and realistic, which I wasn't expecting.

Those of you who hated it, what would've made it better?

and I agree that the tv commercials for it are lame.

Having an open mind is a two way street.
