Just some rambling thoughts.
I'm curious.. since so many amateur ghost hunters believe ghosts haunt the places where they died (rather than the places they loved during life, which makes more sense IMO), wouldn't that tend to make hospitals the most haunted places in the world?
Hundreds, if not thousands, of people die everyday in hospitals across the globe. I'm quite sure more people die at the hospital than at home (excluding 3rd world countries perhaps) Yet, I really don't see any teams attempting investigations at working hospitals. Maybe if they knocked off the silly "going dark" practice, they could set up in a vacant room without bothering current patients or staff. Instead they only investigate places that have been shut down for decades, run-down and spooky looking. Obviously, it makes for better theatre that way.
Of course, there's a real catch; I suppose not many hospitals would take capitulate to such inquiries or requests, but that wouldn't normally stop ambitious teams from asking.. and perhaps some hospitals might allow it under certain circumstances. Then again, this all hinges on the assumption made at the beginning of my post, which is certainly questionable.
By the same token, since this is the 10th anniversary, it brings to mind the fact the WTC area could also be a prime candidate, as a source of thousands of sudden, violent deaths – not that I condone the idea of investigating there, but I'm a little surprised no one has tried (to my knowledge anyway). I predict that once the "too soon?" feeling fades away, we will see investigations there, much as GH recently did the naval base in Hawaii. It might take another 20 years or more, but I'm sure it'll happen. Unless this whole paranormal craze is dead by then.
Any other ideas for "likely" haunted real estate that is relatively untapped?

Old age and nursing homes. Some of the more credible reports have originated from those places. But I don't think it's appropriate to investigate those places while they are still inhabited by the living.

Is the WTC haunted?
How can it not be.
1. Site of massive loss of life.
2. Bedrock in area consists of quartz, marble and granite.
3. Water nearby.
4. Construction occurring at site of disaster.
According to the cadre of paranormal pinheads it should be the Union Station of ghostdom.

Regardless of where they are in the afterlife, may their souls rest in peace.
Well, I hope I don't sound like too much of a jerk, but living in close proximity to one of the biggest cities in the U.S., I get news briefs day in, day out about people getting murdered in bad neighborhoods. Violent untimely death, lots of tension and turmoil. Lots of unsolved cases (other than "suspected gang activity.") So these places would also, by definition, be practically a breeding ground of angry and vengeful spirits. Right?

and I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!

Milli, I'd buy a ticket to see J&G do an investigation in East St. Louis or Compton.

Heh.. or Hell's Kitchen, or Newark, NJ.. but I wouldn't really want to see anyone put themselves in danger for an investigation.
Though.. it would be interesting if just once, J&G, during an "eventful" investigation of some abandoned building, eventually came across a homeless guy or some kids making all the noise and providing them a good scare when they finally went face to face. – or heck, even a feral cat or dog. I guess they check the buildings out for that kind of thing first.

Orion, go get comfy in the Wayback Machine and go to the Travel Channel website, Ghost Adventures/Moon River Brewery investigation.
Zak's experience with a feral cat is beyond words.
Just go to youtube/zakbagans/cat. They have several videos of it.
