Once again they have demonstrated a pet peeve of mine.  When they setup the stationary cameras, they show us 3 views they have, yet during the investigation Brandy is seen looking at 4 camera views.  This always irks me, as in the past it appears that the "missing" view might ( or should  ) have shown us something important to the investigation.

It also appears that now that they have TWO "tech experts" they present us with probably the worst outdoor shot imaginable – how they could consider anything from that camera 2 to be evidence is beyond belief.

Speaking of new Tech,  Paul one-ups Barrys little pocket weather station by telling us ( we never see it ) he has brought a datalogging version of it.

He's also brought along a motion detecting still camera … never quite explaining why having a constantlly recording stationary camera instead would not do the job better.  We have to assume that Casper is visible to infra-red to trigger the camera AND visible light to show up when flashed.

But the topper is the new static/ion counter – http://www.moditronic.com/trifieldmeter/tfmeter.htm - it seems as though neither of these "tech manglers" ever bothered to explain how the thing was supposed to work.

Robb shoos Brandy out from the little office, and we see him very carefully backing away like Yosemite Sam from a Wabbit Twap … leaving the camerman with all his gear panning down towards the desk and the carefully laid ultra-sensitive Casper trap before the cut away, we don't quite get to see the meter itself.

Robb later hears a noise in the office, and they sneak back in to find a line of lights lit, which Robb then declares "it was full up, as if something had been really moving around in that area"

The only problem is that the unit has NO memory, and the only reason that row of lights could be up that high with NO indication from the top row of lights is if the calibration drifted off.

For some reason this is presented as evidence, yet another short segment when the meter actually seems to respond to questions is left out.

Agree with The Doctor completely.

Now I'm beginning to believe that Paul's presence was the reason Barry looked a bit miffed and was quite subdued.  He did not look like a happy camper.

Wonder what additional new equipment Paul has up his sleeve?  Will we see the battle of the Tech Managers?  Only time will tell.  I'm still trying to digest what I watched last night.  I'm quite confused.  Also, I'd like to know why Brandy is almost always treated like a second-class citizen.  Or am I imagining things?

First day on the job and the new kid gets to go on the client pre-hunt tour ?  I've wondered why Brandy would not be the logical choice for that instead of Dustin – supposedly she has done the background research and having her as the go-to girl should any occurance require deeper knowledge of the venue's history would make sense.

I wonder if Barry is asking for more money for the next round ….

We never see Paul's version of it? Or Barry's? I've never seen Barry's version, but we saw Paul's.

Oubliette -  Prior to your starting this thread, we had a few discussions about the two episodes this week in the Palazzo Ducale thread.  Early yesterday I commented about how it was interesting that in the opening sequence Paul is called a "new addition to the team" who has supposedly been friends with Barry for a long time and was brought in to assist him.  As I too recognized, Barry did not seem to be a happy guy at any time during both segment.  In fact, none of them seemed happy.  Is Barry's "tech manager" position in jeopardy? I don't know but he seemed either miffed maybe by his good friend, Paul's presence, or, and I'm more to be inclined to believe, by the direction GHI has gone which is straight downhill.  They all have to know it or, at the very least sense it.  But then again, their senses seem to be off when investigating so that might be a flawed thought.

I also mentioned in my post early yesterday that Paul was involved not only on the tech side but was there at the introductions and forward which I thought was odd.  What exactly was his place at the tour if he was strictly there to help Barry?  And, if I remember correctly, Paul and Barry never investigated together unless it was edited.  I could be wrong as I kept falling asleep even though I taped it.  It just wasn't worth going back to check.

Ashley is a waste of space and Brandy reads and ad libs inaccurately.  To me, she's as worthless as Ashley.  It's obvious to everyone she does no research.  She just sits and reads off the poorly written script she's given and they have relegated her to virtually no on screen time.  By now she should know the routine.  Just change the names of the location and the rest is the same old, same old claims of what turn out to be absolutely nothing.  She wouldn't have had any face time this week except that Ashley wasn't there to wake up those so inclined.  Sadly, as with GH and GHI, woman are there for eye candy, nothing more.  I could say more about intelligence, the good old boy network, etc. but I won't.  It speaks so loudly for itself.  Yep, no excuses, that's exactly how I feel. By the same token, however, I'm not really sure what the men are there for, either. I don't think they've been selected for on-screen appeal, their blazing knowledge of the paranormal field, nor their abilities to debunk.

I wonder why the whole flippin' team just doesn't go on the walk-throughs now, at least that way they would all get the same story first hand.

By the way…shouldn't this be in Ghost Hunters: International, rather than General Paranormal Discussion?

One thing, ok maybe a couple, that I wondered about in these two episodes.
What is the criteria to send the GHI team to do an investigation?

El Bosque, somebody says they saw a monk's ghost, an office gets messy and you can hear children.

The Library, a door knob rattles, someone saw a woman in black and someone saw a reflection in a glass door.

For that you send a minimum of twelve people, cast and crew, 6,000 miles to investigate.
I would think the guidelines would be a little more stringent before spending that kind of money if I was Pilgrim.
I can understand being a little more lax with the European Castles because of distances.
These two places wouldn't raise an eyebrow if I was Pilgrim's bean counter.

As far as Paul's temp logger, to me that would only show that the air conditioning was working.
The static/ion meter, of course it's legit, it has two ghostie stickers on the
front.
State of the art, undeniably.

Nosfer, you can't have the whole team go on the walk thru.
You always have to have some leeway for Gonsalves Syndrome.

Okay, apparently this was a two-episoder…we did see Paul's temp logger in the second one, I don't know about the first one.

As far as what it would show, well, mine are sensitive enough to detect when a person walks into a room…a flesh and blood person, that is. I've had no luck (that I know of) detecting any ghosts with them.

Well we finally get to see Pauls in the second segment ( I take investigations one at a time ) , but we did see Barry whip out his pocket weather station a few episodes back when Ashley reported some pressure on her chest.

So we've seen both of them now and all is good.

The ability to record (and store) temperature and humidity readings very precisely and at very fine time stamps has existed for a long time (see my other posts on this site) so the only real surprise should be that it took so long for the devices to be adopted by GHI.

Yeah, I know….I probably stepped over the line with that one…I'm just sitting here now waiting for the call from Pilgrim! :)

Nosfer…in true GHI-style, you have now been replaced on the board.  To take over your position and technical expertise, a Master Dowser with a rabbit's foot has been found.  Say hello to Donna, Brian, Andy, and the other 836 of them for me.  Tongue out

Actually, I just found out that there are 837 others. I just met this little kid from Season 1 who raised his eyebrow questioningly during the taping of Episode 9.75, he said the door didn't even have time to bounce off his backside before he found himself here "on the other side" It's pretty nice over here, I may even be able to get some work done :)
