Hopelessly Locked In A "Fear Cage"

A friend of mine sent me this YouTube clip and asked what I thought of it.  It is unusual, I'll give it that…

Since I do not speak Chinese, I'll take a guess here at the set-up.  Something unusual showed up on some sort of surveillance video in 2007 in China.

I'm just going to assume that the giant, obscenely bright square-ish light source in the middle of the screen is a giant window in which natural sun light is pouring through.  Hard to tell.  I mean, if it is a window, it is not at the same level as the other windows on the right (from our perspective) so it's kind of strange.  And light is really not coming through those windows either, although, they could be obstructed by another building.  Again, hard to tell.

Also, notice the very end of the clip showing "orbs" dancing about.

Is this a case of simple dust or insects flying about?  I'm interested in your thoughts…

Interesting.  As far as the windows to the right, they appear to be in a section of the building which apparently is either a vestibule or room of some sort and built inward as you can detect by the wall coming into the room to the right of the "window".  I'm guessing you are correct about that being a window and it is also higher and much larger than the others (like a old time factory window – remember this is in China) and also quite high above the floor.  This could, in some way, also explain to a small degree why is there is difference in the natural light from those on the right from the larger one with the same light source.  Interesting also is the scale of the individuals to the window at the very end.  After looking at the clip, something about having these two individuals on camera somewhat throws up a red flag.  On the surface, they don't seem to have anything to do with this, but you only see a 1.07 minute clip – nothing before, nothing after except these two heading off to the right.  Another thing I noticed is, that if this is supposed to be a cctv camera, it's another case of how things are edited.  Note the differences in the shots.

I don't speak Chinese either but I think unless someone knows exactly where this building is located, it's surroundings, including how the building itself is physically situated in terms of the sun, etc., the type of building it is and any objects outside and/or attached to the building, it's very difficult to determine.  To me, if this is in fact an old building and especially if it's not actually "in use" since there is nothing around to tell what the building is or has been used for, it would make sense that the orbs are either dust thrown up or insects as you said.

All in all, it is a very interesting clip.  Thanks for putting it up for discussion Revenant.

Blech video quality when all we see is a camera pointed at a monitor. Anyway, this looks like an insect to me wagging it's bum at the camera lens, as they do Lol.

I'm going to go with my usual guess– a spider. However, instead of crawling around directly on the lens like American spiders like to do, this one has decided to spin its web in front of the camera. I'm not an expert on spiders, but its smooth initial descent makes me think that perhaps it's dropping on a thread. By around the 30-second mark in the clip, you can see the legs scrabbling around, so I'm assuming it's crawling on a web, or perhaps by that point it's found the camera housing.

The "orbs" in the last shot might be light glinting off loose strands of spiderweb. Look around 1:02– you can actually see the strand blowing around on the right side of the screen.

I'm not clear as to why we're seeing the spider so brightly instead of in shadow, but as alicat says it's impossible to say much more without actual context.
