Patrick Doyle of "Haunted Hoax" fame (Youtube channel) has a new series, "Addicted to Ghosts". He's more or less totally given up on the paranormal and is now investigating the investigators.
It's a mixture of truthful, funny and sad, really, but also interesting.

I actually kind of like this idea. I think its a little bit of a stretch to call ghost hunting an addiction… but I think the fame and the attention is the addiction. Not necessarily finding ghosts, because as we have discussed on this forum, a lot of the evidence they collect is questionable at best. Its an addiction of staying 'credible,' entertaining, and deceptive yet trustworthy enough to hold on to their audience.
I read some of the comments on the youtube video… he says he wants to become like the Dr. Phil of ghost hunters. That's where I think this idea might take a turn for the worse. I think it should be a show focusing on exposing ghost hunting tactics or beliefs. But that's just me.
It's like he's too scared to take that one leap forward. It's a more sympathetic show rather than a cut-to-the-chase, lets-get-some-things-straight here kind of exposition.

Investigate the investigators, we do that here too. And I agree, the investigator is usually the weakest part of the equation.

Maybe he's afraid of the Klinge bros giving him a pummeling. ;)
Last night I saw (read: tolerated) a bit of a Ghost Lab ep from last year, they're just way too "alpha-male". They were trying to make contact in a dark hallway, I was half expecting them to belt out, "You manifest right now you protoplasmic p***ies, or we'll kick your little yellow bellied butts!" If I was a ghost, I woudn't want to talk to them either.

Nevr heard of Haunted Hoax, but it is an interesting idea. And hey, we could be just as good an investigator as some of these other people out there. I think Dr.Phil is a bad example. Maybe he should have said Houdini, as Houdini went around trying to catch mediums and psychics in fraud. Course, he could have said he wanted to be the Nancy Grace of Ghost Hunters, now that's a scary thought.

Everytime I watched that show, I was like "man, chill the f— out." I could just imagine a female ghost be like ":sniff: my word, that is NO way to talk to a lady!" /floats away
Another example of unnecessary drama.

New season of dancing with the stars! Not that I watch, but quite the lineup this season.
Perhaps one of our favorite ghost hunters will make an appearance on the show? Zak? That'd be a riot.

I'm still not too sure of ghost hunting being an addiction though, at least not any more than any other sport or pastime. Calling it an addiction seems excessive.
But running, now there's an addiction.

I dunno, for most "addiction" is an exaggeration, but for a few, maybe not -especially if it's attention-seeking behavior.
What would we call these people, "Ghostheads"? lol
When PD did "Haunted Hoax", I liked his tagline: "Did it really happen, did you just want it to happen, or did someone make it happen?"

Re-watching some old Ghost Hunters videos via a new channel on YouTube. These generally get shut down pretty quickly, but this guy has all the old episodes, Season 1 and 2. (username GhostMediaReborn, if you're interested.)
Anyways, watching the Myrtles Plantation episode. Jason says that they're goal is to disprove hauntings. He says that 80% of hauntings can be dismissed either as psychological or some other explanation. I hope Patrick throws that statistic out there, right of the "experts" mouth!

Funny how 80% seems to be the minimum percentage of the Reveals anymore that turn out to be haunted.
