There is dissension and chaos in the world of Bigfoot and cryptozoology at the moment.

Essentially, M.K. Davis, "a one-time admired Bigfooter," is causing some trouble with his theories of a Bigfoot massacre during the time of the Patterson/Gimlin film (1967).  Cryptomundo has been all over it.  So far, it's a two-parter, with more probably on the way.

Part 1

Part 2

In Part 1, I tried to view the video but it was already disabled by Mr. Davis as mentioned in part 2.

There is concern that this will put "serious investigation" on Bigfoot in a bad light.  Um…ok.  I'm not sure what stories like Bigfoot flying or that Bigfoot is an alien or the other 23,875 wild theories and stories about Bigfoot do for serious investigation, but…whatever.

So, I'll keep my eye on it and post any more updates on this "breaking story."  Laughing  It's good to see Cryptomundo back to its roots and talking about Bigfoot instead of making cats into cougars and theorizing about monsters in lethal dog attacks…

It was the Chucacabra on the grassy knoll.

I love a good conspiracy.

Revenant – All this chaos is making my head hurt.  Thanks for the info.  I'd rather read your analysis by far.

BTW – returned #4.

Well…the next installment is out…

Part 3

Mr. Coleman compares the massacre conspiracy to the Senator McCarthy era.  The editorial even begins with a quote from the famous Edward R. Murrow report from 1954.  The entire piece is…um, interesting.  I can somewhat see his point yet…comparing this (whatever this is) to the McCarthy era is stretching things a bit.  This is my favorite line:  "This is a call to arms, for direct statements from across the Bigfoot community, against the tyranny and stupidity contained in the essence of this “massacre theory” and all of the alleged shocking “evidence” that are merely the products of one man’s thinking."

"Against the tyranny"…I have to admit, it's the first time that I've ever heard the word "tyranny" in conjunction with a Bigfoot topic.  Well, in conjunction with any paranormal topic.

And I really want to relate that "the alleged shocking “evidence” that are merely the products of one man’s thinking." part to my original post in the "The Shameful Making Of A Monster" thread…but I shall be a gentleman about it and I shall refrain from doing so…

Bigfoot, massacres, McCarthyism, tyranny…this is getting good…

Update:

Since my last post, there have been four more parts added to this ever-growing saga.  I won't list them as I don't really find them particularly interesting.

However, what I do find interesting in "The Great Crypto-War of '09" is that battle-lines have truly been drawn.  This is becoming a pretty big deal in cryptozoology.  The "serious investigators" of Bigfoot are making a concentrated effort to distance themselves from those out on the fringe of reality concerning Bigfoot.  Now, one can make at least several good jokes about this concept, but I won't.  Maybe it's a good thing that they are distancing themselves.  And maybe it's about time.

I mean look at the groups seriously investigating ghosts.  You think they're happy with "Most Haunted" or J&G's insanely slopping investigatory methods?  I can't imagine that they are.

Same can be said about those people into Bigfoot.  I don't mind people looking for Bigfoot as long as they are responsible, safe, and use science as their guide.  I would be much happier if they were looking and examining other facets of nature while looking for their Bigfoot, but…you can't always get what you want.  Separating themselves from the…fanatics, is a good step.  Just not sure how successful that they are going to be in doing so…
