It is rare to find the perfect trifecta of weirdness within one article. Yet, here we go:
http://bigfootsightings.org/2009/08/10/flying-bigfoot-in-the-blue-mountains-washington-state/
You can simply follow the link within the article to check out David N.'s personal account of seeing Bigfoot amongst the stars. Oddly enough, MonsterQuest just did a show on flying humanoids and I don't remember this being mentioned. Of course, one can argue that Bigfoot really isn't a humanoid. Maybe. I can't say one way or another. But since the show also spoke of aliens and alternate dimensional creatures…why not throw in Bigfoot too?
The original article mentions "Mel's Hole." No need to re-invent the wheel here because Brian Dunning over at Skeptoid did a brilliant piece on this not too long ago which can be found here:
http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4156
The original article also mentions "Hollow Earth." *sighs* I don't think I have enough strength to state all the things wrong with this "theory." So, I'll just give you guys a couple of links to mull over:
http://www.unmuseum.org/hollow.htm
http://skepdic.com/hollowearth.html
Ok, so there you go. Three topics for the price of one. In these tough economic times, I'm trying to do the best that I can for you guys…enjoy!
A side-note: I was torn as to where to place this post. Maybe "Fringe Science" would have been a better overall location, but since Bigfoot is the actually story, I decided upon Cryptozoology.

Flying Bigfoot, hmmm.
Apparently the recently discovered blue mushrooms are growing somewhere other than Mount Victoria in the Philippines.

Revenant,
Thanks for being so kind and economical to post this thread. I love a good bargain. I'm not sure exactly what to say about all this except that I had to laugh even though I was admonished by the writer's first comment to "quit laughing" and that was from the bigfoot research site itself. I think the word "deranged", which was mentioned at the bottom of The Skeptical Dictionary's links, is applicable here. If not deranged, Blinddog50's explanation may be on target about those blue mushrooms growing elsewhere. Ahh…. the 60's…. peace and love…..

Well…a flying Bigfoot isn't quite as bad as some threads that I've read at various Bigfoot sites. My favorite theories include; Bigfoot is an alien (with their own line of spacecraft), Bigfoot has stealth technology akin to the creature in "The Predator," and Bigfoot is a magical being like Merlin the wizard (although technically, I think a wizard "harnesses" the powers of magic hence he is not a "being of magic" himself…though, I guess it depends on what fantasy books that you've read…).
As for Mel's Hole, I thought of this when we were discussing GHI and Houska Castle's Gate to Hell. A great story…as for actual facts…well, it's a great story. I remain unconvinced that Houska Castle was built to "keep something in." And if a hole even exists, a dried-up well or a poisoned well make a little bit more sense to me.
What does interest me with the comparison of Mel's Hole and the Gate to Hell are the stories attached to it. An alleged hole in the 9th century represents a gateway to hell. An alleged hole in the 20th century represents a curious geological oddity. And both unproven. It's fascinating to see how different cultures from different time periods handle the same thing and create their own myths according to what they believe.
As for the Hollow Earth theory…that's just a bunch of a "Land of the Lost" kind of crazy…

Revenant,
I've never heard that Bigfoot was an alien and had his own designer spacecraft. That's a keeper.
I do understand though about Mel's Hole and GHI's Castle Houska Gate to Hell. I never thought Castle Houska was built to keep something in either. Stories change and adapt through the ages depending upon the individual and reason they are relating the tale. Back then, the worst case scenario was a gate to hell but you are right, a hole in the ground back then would most likely be a well, poisoned or not, as that was how they obtained their water supply and we all know wells do occasionally run dry and get boarded up.

I don't beleive it at all, but am very fascinated by the Hollow Earth theory. I mean, if it were true, I would quit my job today and start exploring. That would be very cool!
Unfortunately we are just left with bad movies like The Core and Journey to the Center of the Earth – 2008.

Next time someone questions the existence of a flying Bigfoot, just tell them to shut their dang Mel-hole…..
