This is a new forum for discussing "Fact or Faked".

Sorry, Grand Poobah of the paranormal, but I had to vote no.
This show is what I consider to be an insult to my meager intelligence
To keep me as a viewer it would take taping the show with Jael and Dragon Lady doing it topless.

Maybe, I am getting old..

I'm the Grand Poobah of the Paranormal? I could get to like that.

Creation of a new forum around here never constitutes endorsement of a show. Hell, reviewing the thing doesn't either.

Hmmm…I don't know.  Which is worse?  Thinking a cold spot next to a big chunk of ice is paranormal or developing a cat/boar hybrid theory?  Sitting on the floor and talking to a flashlight or looking for a lake monster in a man-made lake?  Watching a grown man play with fishing line on his collar or watching people conduct EVP sessions because they're seeing "mysterious" car headlights?

Oh, I haven't even started with Zak's possession or Ryan's "I Am Six" craziness.  Dare I even mention "Most Haunted?"

Personally, I don't consider FoF above or below the rest of the pack.  And when you think about that for a second, it's really an insult…I mean to be considered of the same ilk as GH, GA, etc…and so quickly, that does take some doin'. Smile

So really, I'm all for adding it to the pile.  Why not?  It doesn't insult my own meager intelligence any more or less than the rest of them…

And just for the record and to be absolutely clear…I'm not against the topless idea.  I think I read somewhere that there's a theory that shirts and blouses scare off ghosts so it would only benefit their chances in contacting a ghost.  You know, just sayin'… Wink

I'm having difficulty finding this show online without a 10 year wait. Apparently the uploaders think it's unworthy.

So I'm sitting in my living room – minding my own business – watching the Travel Channel's RV show when..

what da……?

it's none other than Chi-Lan Lieu trying to sell me the latest RV camper thingy…

Uhhh, not really going anywhere with this, just thought it………interesting. I mean, I thought she was a photographic expert or something. Sure, nothing wrong with making a buck where there's one to be made, still…

I….I'm thinking.

The terrifying thing about Fact or Faked is that it's the most realistic investigation show we're likely to see on SyFy. And it's prefab.

You know, I was wondering why you weren't joining in on these.  Then again, maybe you should just count yourself lucky and call it a day.  Laughing  I mean this show is just going to drive you insane.  I still remember watching their "Raystown Ray" investigation just wide-eyed and just mumbling to myself over and over…"It's…a man-made lake.  It's….a man-made lake.  Where does a lake monster come from?  It's…a man-made lake!" Frown

Not only does her website not mention photography, it doesn't even mention Fact or Faked.  At least not on the first page, along with the rest of her TV appearances.

THAT is one of the scariest things I've ever read on this site…

Yeah this one and GHI, although GHI comes out at extremeghosthunters.com. FoF does too but it's in the pay only section and I'm not paying to watch this load of rubbish.

Learjet said this referring to not being able to view FoF in Australia: "…I'm not paying to watch this load of rubbish."

I didn't know that was the case.  And yes…can't blame you in the least for not wanting to pay to watch FoF.  Upon thinking about it…maybe someone should be paying us for watching it.  I think we might be doing a better job at figuring out the video clips…

hyacinth said this while responding to Crow: "Speaking of Chi-Lan , I found her own website and I see nothing  about photography ."

Hmmm…I'm torn on this one.  Her SyFy FoF team member page (here) states that she does have a degree in photography and mentions her stint on "Tech TV."  Now, at this point, one can argue over the term "Photography Expert."  Is she an expert?  You're pushing me, but…I don't see a point in arguing over this one when the other two are much more interesting…

On that same Team Member page, check out Austin.  His bio says he has a degree in biology and is a personal trainer.  Fine, nothing wrong with that.  Yet…I'm not seeing how that qualifies him as a "Stunt Expert."  Case in point was the "Ghost Car" episode.  They got a stunt-driver to make the wicked turn, jump over a fence and then finally through the fence.  If I were the resident Stunt Expert…trust me…I'm jumping that car over the fence myself.  I'm not a stunt-drive or a "Stunt Expert" and I'd still want to jump the car over the fence.  Who doesn't?  Anyway…what's up with that?

And lastly, Bill…the "Lead Scientist."  I've tried to look up Bill and have only come up with his "extensive" paranormal background.  I do not know what qualifies him as a scientist, much less the "lead" scientist.  If anyone can clear that up, I'd love to hear it.

I'm very unclear why everyone must have a title.  Hmmm…if I were on the show, I'd want to be the "Apophenia Expert"….Tongue out

Well, it all depends on how much you want to read into things and how you want to twist things in their favor. Bill could be the lead scientist ON THE TEAM. Granted, the competition ain't that stiff. And if he's the only one to claim "scientist" he could be, by default, the lead one. Sort of like "Lead Investigator" that we saw so often on GH. The "lead" on the show. And the term scientist has no real formal checklist. That may or may not clear things up, but doesn't really help their stature! Bill seems to be coming in second only to the other Bill of UFO Hunters fame.

Photography expert. I've never taken Class 1 when it comes to photography, but I'd wager that I'd run circles around Jael or Chi-Lan or whichever one it was that claims to be a photography expert.

I do have to take slight issue with this statement, though:

I think we might be doing a better job at figuring out the video clips…

Issue being taken only in that I don't think there's any "might" about it :) The SV Team is already up on them by a couple of videos already! Can you imagine what we could do if we actually got out in the field to these same spots? Not like we've needed to yet, but just thinking out loud here.

Stunt expert? That one puzzled me from Episode 1. I honestly did think when they were going to recreate the car scenes that Austin or Bill or whatever the stunt guy is (what did I say about character development?) was going to do the honors.

I don't see why we couldn't do it. Let's find some candidate videos of our own, figure out what happened, and produce some YouTube videos. Granted, I'm already swamped trying to catch up with GHI and the podcast, but at some point we could produce our own videos and put them on the Skeptical Viewer YouTube channel. I have Final Cut Studio and am not afraid to use it. (Although I'd like to find a more telegenic host than myself– I have a body built for radio.)

Some 3-D modeling would be good, too. PAGING FORMERGHFAN!

Not sure we'd really need to look very far for candidate videos. FoF has been picked up for another six episodes I think. This means another dozen videos that will have to be re-examined and explained by someone who knows a spider from his…

Looks like we already have a caterer…unless Lindy just means being in charge of the eating and drinking and not so much the supplying! :)

Well if we're going to investigate some UFOs just give me some heads up. I'll gladly drive to the reported sites and hang up some red tinted floodlights in a tree the night before. Make it seem like we're hot on the trail of a potential alien invasion. Hell we might even run into the FoF crew there trying to recreate lights in the sky with a spray bottle and a giant fan.
