Keeping with the ghostly tradition, DT investigates another haunted town. This one is a sand-covered ghost town in Namibia in which the team hopes to find the spirits of the former residents. Their ghost adventures are the ones that interest me the least and I feel they are done mainly to try to siphon off some of the allure that the current run of ghost shows has (or was having).
This portion of the episode will give Josh a chance to show some exciting dune buggy scenes as part of their "enroute" montage.
There are a few possibilities for ghost towns in Namibia and pretty much all of those could be associated with sand, but my odds on favorite for THE ghost town to be featured here is the mining town of Kolmanskop in the southern part of Namibia which saw it's rise to importance as a result of the diamond trade.
In case you're interested in tours…I don't think Orbitz is sponsoring DT anymore, but you may be able to book a flight at your local Bass Pro Shop:

I am unaware of any members of GHI being in Namibia so it is my fervent hope that we can avoid having the evidence analyzed by these experts. They could always take it back to the states to J&G so we're not out of the sand dunes yet.
Speaking of sand dunes and a dune buggy or two. It will be interesting to see the excuse they use for using them to go baja-ing across the desert:

If you take a look at this, Kolmanskop is right off a major highway (at least for Namibia) and is accessible by road. And there is a landing strip right on the other side of the highway.
The second episode, Cerro Azul, however, brings us back to the show's original course, namely that of searching after corporeal, even if unlikely, flesh and blood beasts that just maybe perhaps might have ducked under the radar all these years. Although in this case I really have my doubts
Cerro Azul is in Panama. Well, it's also in the Galapagos, Chile, Brazil, Peru, and many other places with a Portuguese or Spanish background…the name simply means Blue Hill in either language. Or was that Blueberry Hill?
The blue hill in Panama is the one we are after, though, and this episode probably refers to the strange, hairless creature that was killed in September 2009.
As the story goes, four Panamania kids were attacked by this hairless creature that came out of the water after them. In fear of their lives, the kids reportedly stoned the creature to death and threw it back into the water. Not sure I buy that and apparently a few other people think the back-story has a high probability of being fabricated.
This brings to mind similarities of the original Montauk creature. The statement about being in the water makes me wonder if they killed it or just found it…the water contributing to the bloated and hairless look that is seen in the photos:

Of course, it's always possible that the Cerro Azul of interest in this episode IS the Galapagos, and Josh and crew are after the Rhi (pronounced Ree) the scientific name of which is Relius humungonus iguana.
