Keeping with the ghostly tradition, DT investigates another haunted town. This one is a sand-covered ghost town in Namibia in which the team hopes to find the spirits of the former residents. Their ghost adventures are the ones that interest me the least and I feel they are done mainly to try to siphon off some of the allure that the current run of ghost shows has (or was having).

This portion of the episode will give Josh a chance to show some exciting dune buggy scenes as part of their "enroute" montage.

There are a few possibilities for ghost towns in Namibia and pretty much all of those could be associated with sand, but my odds on favorite for THE ghost town to be featured here is the mining town of Kolmanskop in the southern part of Namibia which saw it's rise to importance as a result of the diamond trade.

In case you're interested in tours…I don't think Orbitz is sponsoring DT anymore, but you may be able to book a flight at your local Bass Pro Shop:

http://www.namibia-travel.net/…..mankop.htm

I am unaware of any members of GHI being in Namibia so it is my fervent hope that we can avoid having the evidence analyzed by these experts. They could always take it back to the states to J&G so we're not out of the sand dunes yet.

Speaking of sand dunes and a dune buggy or two. It will be interesting to see the excuse they use for using them to go baja-ing across the desert:

See Here

If you take a look at this, Kolmanskop is right off a major highway (at least for Namibia) and is accessible by road. And there is a landing strip right on the other side of the highway.

The second episode, Cerro Azul, however, brings us back to the show's original course, namely that of searching after corporeal, even if unlikely, flesh and blood beasts that just maybe perhaps might have ducked under the radar all these years. Although in this case I really have my doubts

Cerro Azul is in Panama. Well, it's also in the Galapagos, Chile, Brazil, Peru, and many other places with a Portuguese or Spanish background…the name simply means Blue Hill in either language. Or was that Blueberry Hill?

The blue hill in Panama is the one we are after, though, and this episode probably refers to the strange, hairless creature that was killed in September 2009.

As the story goes, four Panamania kids were attacked by this hairless creature that came out of the water after them. In fear of their lives, the kids reportedly stoned the creature to death and threw it back into the water. Not sure I buy that and apparently a few other people think the back-story has a high probability of being fabricated.

This brings to mind similarities of the original Montauk creature. The statement about being in the water makes me wonder if they killed it or just found it…the water contributing to the bloated and hairless look that is seen in the photos:

Of course, it's always possible that the Cerro Azul of interest in this episode IS the Galapagos, and Josh and crew are after the Rhi (pronounced Ree) the scientific name of which is Relius humungonus iguana.

Apropos "cryptomundo":  The decaying photo looks very "slothy" (note the claws).  Might be a reasonable explanation for the hairless, waterlogged first pictures too.  They are fairly aquatic;  I think there is even an extinct giant swimming sloth.

Nice picture of sloth with claws:

That was the general consensus, so I hope there is some much lesser known incident that Josh is tackling, but I fear not.

Kolmanskop: I think we're approaching a new series low.

You may be right…..

Kolmanskop:

"The town was used in the first episode of the BBC series "Wonders of the Universe" to help explain entropy."

Hmmmm…..

Haven't reached Cerro Azul yet.

Hmmm…

I am skeptical that Rex saw a person/shadow/ghost/spirit/monster/alien/banshee.

I am skeptical that his nose bled by paranormal means.

Josh is the star of the show.  Ryder is interesting.  Rex…why do we need to see Rex?  Would we not be better served by turning that little personal camera away from his mug so that we might be able to substantiate his many, many, many claims?

Is there anyone out there that actually buys what Rex is saying or doing?  I'm not joking.  If so, I'd love to hear the reason why one would consider him credible.  He's quickly becoming the "tough guy" version of Joe Chin….the master of the personal experience.  Has he ever produced even remotely plausible evidence of anything?

Lastly…I am becoming very skeptical of Rex and his true role on the show…very skeptical indeed…

Rex is the latest medic, right?

He does seem to be taking a more prominent part in the investigations than the previous three medics…perhaps because he is an adherent to the "Susan School of Paranormal Exhibitionism"?

Forget Josh, Ping Pong should be ashamed of themselves, this was a classic FoF-type investigation.  One that need not have been done.  Brings to mind the Mermaid case (and a few others) where they could easily have solved this one from within their war-room.

This one was all spelled out ahead of time, the only thing I had not found was an explanation of the hairlessness of the sloth (before the episode aired) in this particular case.  I have since found that as well, confirming the Montauk similarity and water vs hair suggestion that I mentioned in the initial post.  In short, this episode was simply to showcase some whitewater rafting and Josh's supposed knowledge of different creatures, with the exception, of course, of the sloth.  Interestingly, in the photos they were working with, if you looked closely, they had circled the claw!

And what was that nonsense about finding another route to the location or whatever they were doing so that they could then loop around half of panama to come at the place from a different angle and different conveyance (rafts)?  Oh, wait, I think I just answered my own question.

Namibia was about as bad, though at least not as much from the solve-it-in-the-studio aspect.  Another showcasing episode, this time so Josh could have his 4 seconds of fame on an unnecessary dune buggy ride.  Made it look like there wasn't a single road in the area which is not the case.  Heck, they could have just taken the tour bus.  Way too many freakouts and personal experiences that could not be confrmed to be anything other than poor acting or people hyping themselves up in the conditions of the situation.  The "voice" recorded by Jael?  Voice?

And a nosebleed in a sandy area that is very dry, hmmmm, that's never happened before, not in the entire history of nasology.

Definitely agree, flip those mounted cameras 180 degrees and maybe we'll see something…then again, maybe we won't Laugh

Temperatures reach 150 degrees in Namibia?  Sure would love to have an A/C franchise there.
