And bringing the right equipment and using it correctly could do just that.

And what do we know of these new people that they've brought in as investigators? What do we know about their qualifications for investigating…to be more to the point.

Producing a show like Hell's Kitchen or Swamp People doesn't exactly give much in the way of qualifications to PROPERLY use equipment like a thermal imager which requires a pretty good knowledge of materials properties to be handled effectively. It's not as simple as just aiming and looking at colors.

Sure would be nice for them to give a bit of introduction to the people involved and explain why we should have confidence that they are doing things as correctly as possible in the given situations.

This is an outstanding observation, one in which I had put in my "FLIR or Foul" thread.  Man…I should have thought of that… Laughing

But really…"requires a pretty good knowledge of materials properties" is so vital when examining FLIR footage.  That's why the people using this equipment are typically engineers or scientists.  They're pretty sharp people.  They know what reflects heat, absorbs heat, produces heat, so on and so forth.  I highly doubt that any of the people using the FLIR on these shows have those sort of qualifications.

Just another reason why it is so hard for anyone to trust these FLIR images that we're seeing on these paranormal shows.

Regarding the engine noise -

Is it possible the divers air bubbles are collecting at some high point and passing through a small outlet, causing the noise ?  Perhaps something flapping or spinning in the air stream ?

Josh says it starts a bit after he entered the compartment, which fits.  I wish we knew if it continued after they left, and if so for how long.
