It's off to Cambodia and Canada, so this week's episode is brought to you by the letter "C"

I won't dwell on Angkor, but suspect it will be much like their other such investigations (Petra comes to mind) wandering around some huge complex which is well set up for echos and darndedly hard to keep everyone out of at night.

Canadian Lake Monster has to be the Ogopgopgo…Ogoogopgop…Ogogpoggo…grrr…Ogopogo…if that's still spelled wrong, someone can correct it!

Here are a few links to familiarize yourself with the "beast", the first of which, may be the particular story they "go after"

http://www.cryptomundo.com/cryptozoo-news/baby-ogopogo/

or

http://www.articlealley.com/article_1522043_29.html

I've got a joke about boron-enhancement being behind this monster, but I'm going to save it for later :)

There was an SV discussion about a year or so ago about Ogopogo, too:

Hmmm…

First, in Pompeii, we have an odd image that appears while using the FLIR.  Is it moving?  Unknown.  Is the image something solid?  Unknown.  If the image is solid, is it relatively the same temperature as the surrounding area?  Apparently so but I'm not sure.  Especially after seeing tonight's episode.

Once again, but in Angkor Wat this time, we have an odd image that appears while using the FLIR.  Is it moving?  Unknown.  Is the image something solid?  Unknown.  If the image is solid, is it relatively the same temperature as the surrounding area?  Apparently so.  Hmmm…

Two different places.  An odd image apparently moving but at room temperature.  I think step one isn't to jump straight into the paranormal as J&G did (shocker there, eh?).  Step one would be to check the FLIR and its settings.  I am not well versed enough in the use of the FLIR to offer concrete explanations or solutions.  But I have this aching feeling that at a certain distance, things are getting "washed out."

Things would be a bit easier if we could see the temperature range and the settings.  Of course, DT has chosen to go the GH/GHI/GHA route and not show us that.  Yes.  Of course.  Why show important bits of data when you're trying to be sciency but mysterious as well? Undecided

As for Ogopogo-agogo *looks at Nosfer*, the only thing that jumped out at me was their new submersible.  I'm sure J&G fell out of their chairs (while playing chess…Undecided…) when they saw that one.  I can hear Jason on the phone with Josh during the show:  "My good friend Josh, let's have a talk about that little submarine thing.  In this economy, we're basically only using flashlights and swinging doors for our ghosts.  Syfy isn't made of money.  Let's take it easy on that high tech expensive gear and scale it back.  Stop making us look like we're cheap!  So dump that thing.  *sighs heavily at Josh's slight weeping noises* Look, if you want a submarine that bad, my son has a plastic one.  Runs on baking soda.  I'll mail it to you.  Oh…Pompeii?  Angkor Whatever?  Stop making GHI look like a bunch of college kids backpacking through Europe.  Not cool man.  We paved the way.  You owe us.  And STOP crying already…"

At least that's how the one-sided conversation goes in my head.  Tongue out

But they have been saving money on ground transportation throughout the whole show, just so they could afford this submersible.  J&G shouldn't have purchased those black TAPS Tahoes and blown their whole budget…..   :)

Don't get me started on their "vehicle woes" I know it's a trademark of the show but it's getting pretty old! And both times last night when Josh said "We packed up our bags and headed back to Los Angeles" I stared dumbfounded with a "huh" look on my face. They just got there! Maybe if they didn't waste so much time with the local culture, getting their feet cleaned by fish, and buying Canadian hats for Josh, and flagging down passing cars to help fix their POJ there would be time to show an actual investigation. Or, maybe they need all that stuff for filler…

Yes…here in America, we get little plastic submarines that run on baking soda.  In Australia, you get Elle Macpherson.  Cry me a river… Tongue out

Voices at Angkor Wat…if they hadn't had their feet cleaning session, maybe they would have spent a little time (20 seconds?) and explained what that "human scream" was that they heard. Probably monkey or cat, possibly some sort of bird. That they ignored it in the "Reveal" tells me it was nothing paranormal but it would have been nice for them to identify it or explain why they dismissed it since it was a key part of the investigation.

Additionally, since there was a sound, likely animal, that means there was audio (and possibly video) contamination at the site. Many birds and cats, monkeys too, can make some very human like sounds, and since none of their EVPs was over two syllables, I think the case for paranormal is pretty weak…if the human scream was dismissed, probably as animal, why wasn't the "Keep off"? I just flat out didn't hear the "Yes"

I agree with Nosfer on the "evp".   I really didn't hear "keep off", I did hear something, and if we're going on the assumption that it was paranormal in nature, why didn't they try to ask someone from Cambodia if it sounded like something to them (do they speak Cambodian?  or something else?  I feel pretty foolish not knowing that).  And I never heard the "yes" – at least the "keep off" could be heard, but poorly identified.

I wish they had identified the "screams" – definitely sounded like an animal to me, but would have liked to know which one (just to satisfy my curiosity).

The scream sounded exactly like a fox to me. It was the same annoying noise that I hear waking me up in the middle of the night around here. (I'll have to check and see what kind of fox critters they have in that part of the globe- anyone know?) Either way, it was an animal, and that is probably why they did not bring it up at the end.

Let's see, guy was kicked down the stairs and left unconscious for two or three hours. Thank goodness ghosts can only exert, what was it, 10lbs of force? and can't hurt anyone. So glad of that…uh oh, just a thought, might have been a Demon! (cue scary music)

Leslie , according to wikipedia they have these critters .

The Dhole (Cuon alpinus)

Dholes produce whistles resembling the calls of red foxes, sometimes rendered as "coo-coo". How this sound is produced is unknown, though it is thought to help in coordinating the pack when travelling through thick brush. When attacking prey, they emit screaming "KaKaKaKAA" sounds  Other sounds include whines (food soliciting), growls (warning), screams, chatterings (both of which are alarm calls) and yapping cries. In contrast to wolves, dholes do not howl

Yep, in the middle of the jungle like that, with animals all around, great care needed to be taken with any sounds captured…great care which I did not see.

Thanks, Hyacinth, for the info on the Dholes. I was listenig to some of their calls, and (to me) they do not sound anything like what was heard at Angkor Wat. So I searched further and found that it is possible that the Red Fox may actually be in the area-which is what I think that this sounds like.
