Here is a quote from the SyFy Destination Truth site -
"During an EVP session, the Josh hears the clear sound of someone chanting in the distance. It almost sounds like someone moaning on the wind. When he asks, "Is anyone here?" he gets a clearly audible response: "Yes.""
Question. Why would ancient spirits living in Petra understand English, much less reply in English?
Jason and Grant were so impressed, too.

I've also just noticed they call him 'the Josh' (that quote was 'cut and pasted' directly from the SyFy site). So is The Josh sorta like The Donald? LOL!

Bring back the good old days when J&G skoffed at one word, one syllable EVPs.
Almost every time someone says " did you hear that? " it could have been taken as an answer to some question if one were being asked at that moment.
An interesting point was when the base team said they saw someone sitting in the ampithetre tunnel. Ryder goes to check it out and we see her arrive there, finding nothing out of the ordinary. Since the shadows that looked like a figure were not, the incident should have been dismissed.
At best it could have been used as a learning opportunity … Ryder could have been directed to the areas that seemed like a figure and been able to report on what was actually causing it to look that way on IR.
Why does Ryder decide to do an EVP session instead ?

Gates's comment "So…it's the ghost of a bug or a bird?' made the episode for me. : )
As for the "yes"…that's clearly echo of their own voices, possibly mixed with wind…classic aural matrixing, and not even a good example. You have to _try_ to hear that "yes". The natural acoustics of caves distort sound and echo like all get out; it's only natural that you'd eventually hear/record a sound that was warped to the tone our brains auto-identify as being a human voice.
This is a big part of why I don't trust EVPs anymore; it's either the natural acoustics of the environment messing with your ears, or, much more often, the recording equipemtn picking up stray radio/cel phone signals. The latter was not the case here, but….food for thought: unplug your speakers from your computer sometime, but leave them powered up/turned on, and listen fto what shows up in the resultant static for a few hours. You'll get an "EVP" or two, almost guaranteed.
I do wish this stuff were real, and that there really were psycho-kinesis prone "negative entities" out there like Jason describes; it'd make the world a more magical and fascinating place to live in….but one has to look at the hard and painful facts eventually.
Even my own, sole "paranormal experience" that I personally observed, I have to acknowledge as fitting all too well with the occasional auditory and visual hallucinations that the human brain hiccups into being every now and again.
That said….for the few reliable accounts of paranormal phenomena that I've encountered, I must say I'm more inclined to lean towards it being a spasm of quantum physics, a momentary bleeding of one paralell universe into the other, than I am to believe it being the work of anything close to a deceased human.

I am wondering just how "remote", that this place is. I realise that it isn't downtown Chicago, however there was both a stray cat and dog seen so I imagine that civilization is near and that the place could be subject to exterior noise pollution. How secure could it be as well?

My brother was there just last fall, and he said the place was MASSIVE. The parts you always see on TV or in the movies is just a tiny section.

As the main investigation begins, you can see what looks like city lights in the not-too-far distance (in the IR)
