So what did you all think about tonight’s program? If you didn’t see it, it was quite the adventure. But the really interesting find was the analysis of some long hairs they found. Seems the preliminary lab and DNA work shows they came from a large, unknown primate. If true, it’s quite surprising and I hope it encourages some mainstream scientific expeditions to the region now. Could you imagine if the Yeti was proven to be a fact?

I loved it. I thought it was the best episode in a long time.
I don't understand why they took some of their investigations in some points…like into really small places when the Yeti is reportedly so very large…or via old tram systems which wouldn't be fast enough to keep up with anytihng.
And I am still getting the vibe that Jael is just Josh's paid companion. She doesn't seem to add anything else to the investigation except fear.
But overall, I was riveted watching tonight's episode. I loved the cultural tour of a closed and beautiful land as much as I loved the investigation. I am glad it took the full hour.

I liked the one hour format as well. I'll be working on my review tomorrow. Kind of sad that it was the finale.
About Jael–I listened to an interview with her. Jael was added to the team due to her journalistic background and the fact that she has traveled to many corners of the globe, taking part in independently produced documentaries involving social issues. Besides her screen presence, her expertise in a number of languages also helped land her the spot. She is very comfortable when interacting with people from diverse cultures, another attribute that made her stand out when being considered by the show's producers.
Jael is NOT an archeologist. She is akin to the journalist who covers a war on the front lines. Her fear is genuine but consider the situations that the DT team has encountered. I don't know many people who wouldn't show fear in these situations. But basically she plows ahead anyway. Your average person, regardless of how much they were getting paid, would probably have run off long ago when faced with these challenges.

She is very cute too.
I have a feeling that Josh had a thing for her from the beginning. He really favors her, keeps her close by his side, and it seems to me like he flirts with her all the time. But, maybe I'm reading too much into that. But I don't think so.
But whatever, that doesn't hurt the show in any way. Hope they are a happy couple! :-D I too am sad it is the finale.

I agree with all of you regarding this episode. I found this to be the best episode in a very long time and wishing it would go on for another hour. Actually, I thought it was going to be turned into a cliffhanger when I realized the time and was disappointed when it was over 2 minutes later. Oubliette's description of Jael's purpose is quite on point. On the other hand, I do see some sort of relationship forging but have no problem with whatever that might be (surprise!) because it's not flagrant on/off DT. I agree with Bobarino, if it doesn't hurt the show, that's fine with me.
As far as the investigation into the small crevices, I would offer that's because you have to rule things out before you can rule them in. As far as the hair, I would go for a second opinion. I'm not saying the DNA person was right or wrong but animal DNA databases don't have every species known to man in the bank. Rare species and variations are being found all the time. If, in fact, this was such an incredible find, believe me, Josh and everyone involved would be shouting to the hills ala the Yeti footprint claim of last season. I don't think that has happened yet and I seriously don't think it will. That being said, it would have been an incredible reveal at the end of the episode.
Overall, I enjoyed this better than the previous DT episodes this year as well as GH and GHI combined.

Bobarino–Of course her looks helped too! She is pretty and very photogenic. But glad you brought up the subject.
I'm in contact with someone who knows one of the crew and has met up with Josh & company on a number of occasions, including the show's other producers. She also occasionally has a radio show where some cast members, past and present, have been on. Josh, I think, has been on the show twice so far.
Sooo….about Josh and Jael-no, they are not a couple (although I'm not saying they wouldn't make a great one). He is like a big brother to her. My source has stated it would be very foolish to start up any kind of romance on a show like this, where there is so much serious business to be done on and off camera. Sort of like an office romance that would have repercussions in the workplace. I guess that could change of course! After all, they're just human. But as far as I know it's all business and some fun thrown in.
Jael did state that traveling around together and experiencing the often frightening things they did made them all like a close knit family who really look out for each other. How could they not, when they're safety depends on each other and also acting like a unit?
Funny, in the beginning I thought that this cast was not going to be all that great, but watching and writing about them has completely changed my mind. Although I still miss Ryder and Casey.

Just watched this episode on the DVR.
You know, even with the stupid inclusions of the GH cast, I thought this was the best season yet. The locations were all awesome!! Their equipment was upgraded and they took the investigations prett yserious.
It seemed in the past that Josh was almost mocking the rumored creatures he was looking for.
The one thing that really bothered me was the FLIR hits.
Why would he not train that sucker on whatever was moving (which looked pretty bear-like to me) and keep it there, instead of sighting it, then moving the crew. Especially when they saw it in the ravine. That was the only time it looked like it was walking upright, as it came around the rock.
Overall, great season, great ending episode.
Bring on 2010!

I agree that this was the best of their episodes. However I have to wonder if when an animal is spotted with the night vision or FLIR maybe a little stealth could go a long way. Set up your perimeter camera's in that location and go back to camp and have a cup of coffee or whatever. An unknown creature (or any known animal for that matter) would have to have some type of physical/ mental problem to allow the "investigators" to get close while wearing a headlamp, personal camera getup w/ light, spotlights, yelling in bleeped voices etc. Couple that with the folks falling down and rocks flying…
I know, I know, I'm not the producer.
