GHI: Port Arthur Penitentiary
The Ghost Hunters International team really decided to go out of their way and ended up in Tasmania for this next investigation. The Port Arthur prison is about 200 years old and has the sort of sordid history you might expect from a prison with a little bit of history under its belt. The paranormal reports seem to include a little bit of everything, from shadows to scratches.

This show has gotten sooo ridiculous! First, all or most of their clients do not walk around their homes or places where they supposedly see the apparitions, black masses or poltergeist activity in complete darkness. Why in heck do theTAPS team shut all the lights off in order to catch anything paranormal. Most people themselves say they see these things happen while they are moving about in a normally lit fashion.
Secondly, why doesn't the GH investigators use some type of headset with a camera so that whatever they claim that they see is immediately caught and recorded. Going by their "credibility" is just not enough to convince any logical person. Come on, listening to Jason, Grant & the TAPS team talk about their personal experiences that no else sees but them is getting so pathetic.
The show spends more time having its viewers continually watch the team set everything up and then breaking it down. They explain over & over again about EVPs, EMFs & Thermal imaging what they mean and their side affects more than they need.
Lastly, why in the heck do they only spend one silly night at most of the sights. Hauntings are usually random. What makes them think that something that other people have experienced ( because they have spent long periods of time where the spirits/ghosts reside) is going to show up for the plumbers in just few short hours!! Please give your intelligent viewers a break!

Dustin says that the curtains moved just that one time, but will not even say if they suspect it was some sort of paranormal occurance.
Curious that the camera angle is slightly different then we are shown during the setup. When, by who and why was this adjusted?
Barry's supercam shot of the figure is the biggest flaw. The tree on the right is in different positions. Captureing both images, resizing one so the church is the same and overlaying them shows the church, tree on the left and patch of ground in the center lining up, but the tree on the right changes its position considerably.
Look at it's limbs reaching the church window in the shot with Casper, yet never getting near there in the recreation.
Barry changed something between shots … I call shenanigans.

It has come down to this for GH and GHI. I DVR the show and then watch the spokesman for whatever place they have gone to and then fast forward to the reveal.
The rest is just a boring surreal repetition of every other show. If you take out the set-up, the tear down, the same faces looking over the tapes, and the commercials, you have about 10 minutes of some differences.
If I ever miss a show, I know I'm not missing much at all.
But the crux of the whole thing is this, I don't believe a single thing they come up with or find. The Grant syndrome has ruined both shows for me. They have lost all credibility with me because I know now they are not looking for the truth. They are in it for the money only.

It's like watching paint dry, almost……..at least wet paint doesn't insult your intelligence.

Yep, same old same old routine with minor variation to the theme. Was the same last week, will be the same next week with no proof of anything yet again. Snore…..
If they would just make some PROGRESS in field research rather than "well done, on to the next" mentality I might be able to stay awake for a bit longer.
Oh well, back to sleep…

I was wondering why Barry's reaction was so odd (relaxed) when he took that "so called ghost picture" by the church. Normally ones reaction would be way more like astonishment/disbelief. This made me think something with that picture was not right! They didn't even figure out what it was (a ghost ?), only try to recreate the walk, which was even more odd… Had nothing to do with what Barry captured on his camera/photo… Strange!

That's been my thought, not just with Barry and this particular episode but with episode after episode where there is just no reaction from the investigators, or a reaction that is akin to witnessing a piece of toast come out of a toaster. And furthermore, once having the experience you get a followup of "Cool, thanks for that, we'll leave you alone now." WHAT?????

Yeah there's that, and how about "if you want us to leave then give us a sign". Um… If I was a ghost hunter that would be the one question that I would never ask. I'm there to hunt wabbits, er I mean ghosts, not pack up and go home.

I would only ask mathematical questions. Nothing hard. Simply single digit addition that would result in a double digit answer (as in "What is 5+9?"). In this manner, any EVP should, in theory, only consist of double digit numbers. I think this would cut down on outside contamination as well as poor acoustics (your own voice bouncing off the walls and getting picked up by the recorder…which I'm sure never happens…).

Rev, I agree with that as an investigation method, but as an English major I must object. It's bad enough having to do math in this life. If I'll have to spend my afterlife hanging around an abandoned building doing simple addition, count me out.

The math one also has the problem of the assumption that the ghost could control the amount of EM output to move the meter to the right number. Unless you just mean counting the number of lightups. What is 4+8? Step close, step away, repeat 11 more times.
I would like to see them using recording EMF recorders, too, if EMF is to be used as evidence. More evidence review but since that doesn't seem to be a problem, what's 3 more sets of 8-hours to review? lol If the meter were motionless (confirmed by video) overlay the audio of the math question being asked, and then see the 12 spikes on the EMF trace preceded and followed by flat-line and I would take notice, especially with repeated results.
But as Stephen says, there are some issues. One would be the assumption that the entity knows math in the first place. Child entities, uneducated entities, etc.
I would also use more "opposite" questions. Someone may have mentioned this but I would like to see a question asked, then another question asked, then the opposite of the first question asked. ie
Are you a male?
What is 8+4?
Are you a female?
You would have to then go to another question to confirm the entity is still there, too
Full video on all people in the room (would have to assume there wasn't an unmentioned off camera person, though) No, splicing between asker and meter, show both in the same shot and do not pan from one to the other.

Heck, if ghosts are issued a universal language translator, I would think the powers that be could toss in a calculator.

Lol @ The Doctor.
Recording the EMF is good. But not with data loggers. Record the actual EMF stream with a suitable transducer onto an audio recorder as an audio stream, without compression of course. It can be later played back into spectrum analyzer software for spectral analysis. That way they can find the faulty electrical device that spiked the digital display and call in the electrician to fix it.
