GH: Lakehurst Naval Air Station
TAPS investigates the site of the Hindenburg disaster, including the actual crash site, an enormous hangar and a medical building. Again, Britt & Dustin are on the team to replace Steve & Tango while they run their Ghost Hunters Academy.
The first real activity of the evening was with Kris & Amy in the medical building. They noticed a light that seemed to be turning itself on and off, then they noticed another light doing the same thing. They couldn't find the switch for those lights, but walking around near them did not trigger them to turn on, so they decided the lights were not hooked up to a motion sensor. They just seemed to turn on randomly, then off again.
Here's where Pilgrim Films deserves the award for "Most Obvious Editing to Disingenuously Shape the Narrative" though: Amy was talking to the camera and said, "It's one of those things we're going to have to look into further because if there really is no rhyme or reason to it but it's happening constantly," full-stop, cut to Britt & Dustin. What? Clearly Amy was cut in the middle of a sentence, one which I suspect was going to end with her saying that if it's completely random and it's happening all the time it's probably not a ghost and must have some explanation they just can't figure out at the moment. I guess Pilgrim just wanted to reinforce the "it's happening all the time" part and not let the audience get any crazy ideas about rational explanations.
Dustin & Britt both reported seeing a shadow moving on the upper level of catwalks in the hangar but unfortunately none of this was caught on camera despite Dustin's assertion that they'd seen it several times. They also reported hearing noises on a couple of occasions, including from a particular corner where there had been numerous reports of such noises, but again we in the audience aren't able to hear these sounds for ourselves.
In a back office area Kris & Amy had a number of experiences in rapid-fire succession. They heard what sounded like a door close, a man clearing his throat, and a stairwell light went off. What I heard seemed to be a loud exhale, like a sigh, and it was very clear. Frankly, I assumed it was their cameraman but perhaps it wasn't.
In the basement of the medical building Jay & Grant noticed a strong smell of sewer gas and that there were also high EM readings from the electrical system. Grant postulated that the combination of high EMF and sewer gas could be even more responsible than usual for people thinking the place was haunted. How, I'm unsure but I suspect it has something to do with an episode of Scooby Doo.
Back in the hangar the dynamic duo reported seeing a shadow go up a stairway onto the catwalk, then look over at them. All we see is Jay & Grant, since no one seemed interested in aiming a camera at this shadow (potentially an actual person that was messing with them, but they were apparently none too concerned) and although Grant had the FLIR thermal imaging camera aimed in the general direction he was looking, we were not treated to any substantial shots from that device either. Even if there had been a shot of the catwalk from the moment Jay said the shadow leaned over, and the FLIR showed nothing, that would at least be an interesting result. The fact that the FLIR was aimed in that direction and we weren't shown the results, well that's just interesting.
They do show us some extended thermal footage shortly afterward though, when they decide to drive around the base with their FLIR camera stuck out the window. They (and we) saw a car drive past on a nearby road. Excellent. I'm glad we can confirm the thermal camera is working properly, can we see the footage of the bogey on the catwalk now please?
In fact, according to Dustin post-evidence-review the most compelling catwalk-related evidence he found was a video (with audio) recording of himself hearing noises he believed to be footsteps directly above him when Britt was actually on the catwalk above him but further down. By itself that's not terribly compelling, but Dustin seemed to think it somehow gives credence even to the reports of seeing shadows moving around. I have to disagree. That is a recording of some sounds, which may or may not be footsteps and may or may not be coming from where he thought they were coming from. Even if those two things could be proven, it could simply be an acoustical trick of the hangar or even the catwalk itself conducting the sound of Britt's movement all the way down along its length.
Suggesting this is strong evidence of the paranormal is reaching, but suggesting this in any way backs up the reports of shadow people moving about is preposterous. They have stationary cameras rolling, they have handheld camcorders, they have camera men following them with professional video recording equipment, they even had a thermal imaging camera aimed in the general direction some of these shadows were reportedly seen. There is no excuse not to have video footage.
During the evidence review they also went over the "flurry of activity" Kris & Amy experienced in the office, and came away seemingly with firm opinions despite nothing new. We do hear a door open (or shut), in fact we hear it so clearly it sounds like it's right next to the camera — and in fact there is a door right next to the camera and Kris is grabbing its door handle at the exact moment we hear this "click" of a door, so yes there is a clear sound but I guess Kris is saying she didn't make it? Then again we hear what seems to be a loud sigh, and Kris says "that wasn't us" — well, that's obvious to us because it sounds much closer to the camera than either she or Amy. What I don't understand is why no one suggests maybe it was just the camera operator.
Finally they again address the claim of a light supposedly going off, but no confirmation is presented that it did indeed go off, or in fact was ever on to begin with. This entire segment seems like a dissociative acid trip where the observers are so messed-in-the-head I half expect the next thirty seconds of footage to show Kris accidentally stepping on Amy's foot and Amy saying, "Oh my God, my foot's starting to hurt for no reason" and as she's saying that maybe she's a little too close to Kris and Kris turns around, "Holy cow, it felt like someone was just breathing on my neck!"
Then we're presented with a super-fun EVP. We hear Kris say, "I can't even imagine what that would have been like to go through" and immediately afterward we hear a response which sounds like, "very hard". What I like most about this "EVP" is that the character of the audio changes significantly when it comes in. I'm no expert, but to my ear it very much sounds like someone sloppily just re-recorded over that section and plopped in a convenient response. I don't recall ever hearing this characteristic with any previous EVP, but that's very much what this one sounds like, complete with clicking sounds on the beginning and end that could easily be the buttons on the recorder used to start and stop the segment.
Honestly, in my years of watching this and similar programs, in the back of my mind I've always had this expectation of what an obviously fake EVP would sound like: button click sounds at the beginning and end, with a clear voice in the middle but a completely different acoustical characteristic, as if it wasn't recorded in the same room as the rest of the segment it was supposedly part of. This is the first time I've ever actually heard an EVP that sounded exactly like this, but booya it looks like someone is getting sloppy in their old age because if that is not a sloppily faked EVP then I don't know what is.

Sorry for the delay everyone, full review is now up.

OK, it's been a few weeks since this show was on, but after reading Logisti's review my memory has been sufficiently refreshed. (I really didn't want to have to go back and watch it again!!) The light that Kris and Amy saw going on and off-to me it was obvious that it was just a malfunctioning bulb. I've seen lights do this on a few occasions. A new bulb or an electrician will solve that problem. I find it hard to believe that they couldn't come up with that answer on their own! As far as the cawalk noises are concerned-aren't catwaks notoriously 'creaky' anyway? Without video proof, or verification of where these sounds were truly originating, it's nothing to me.

I watched this episode last night, my sister recorded it for me. As was just mentioned, the business with the light going on and off could have been a bad bulb.
Now i don't understand why the girls didn't try to find the source of the loud beeping we and they heard. You couldn't miss it,and it certainly was caught by the sound man cause we hear it while watching the show. If they were the only ones down there, beside the camera man, then, someone or something had to have turned on this piece of equipment to make it beep, like maybe some sort of alarm. I believe Dustin and Britt also investigated the same area as Amy and Kris, but i didn't hear it when the guys were down there. Also, when I first heard the hiss, I wondered if it could have been like an air lock or something.Didn't one of the girls open a door or something? Now if it was a spirit it might not have been someone clearing their throat, but more of a hiss or warning to get out.Seems to me one of the staff was down there locking up when she saw this shadow that seemed to follow her, according to GH's host.
The cat walk noises could just be due to old age and the exsphanion and contraction of the metal. And yes, we again don't see any proof of the shadows that Jason and Grant witnessed.
Considering the history of what happend there, you would think there would have been more activity, especially when Jay and Grant drove around by the crash site.
You would think we might see a ghost wandering around in flames or something.
