GHI: Moosham Castle
You would think a ghost hunt at a castle which dates back to the 12th century would be interesting, but you'd be wrong. The tour was interesting though! I got a hearty laugh when Dustin asked GHI's host what methods of torture were used on women during a famous series of 17th century witch trials in the castle. Her answer was: Hanging, and being pulled apart by two horses running in oppostie directions. Now, I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure the difference between "torture" and "execution" is that one is designed to elicit confessions (in this case, to witchery) through prolonged discomfort and pain, and the other one makes you dead.
During the investigation we got a momentary burt of excitement when Barry jumped (I believe the expression is: "like a little girl") back from a door that was opening, but unfortunately his claim that it was pulled open from the other side is impossible to verify, especially since he actually had his hand on the door handle at the time the door opened. Now, to be clear here I'm not accusing Barry of doing this but while he claims the door was pulled away from him, for all we know he pushed it open and pretended to be surprised. Heck, for all we know he might have tried pulling it (the wrong way) and then became surprised when the door rebounded (and opened) upon him letting it go. All in all, exciting –> unexciting very quickly — and lacking the ironic humor seen during one commercial break in the investigation which aired immediately after this one, where Robb hears a loud noise –> cut to commercial –> find out that a split second after the noise Dustin says, oops that was me.
So back to THIS (boring) investigation, Robb & Brandy heard some noises on a catwalk and Robb admirably expressed dissatisfaction knowing they would need something better than assorted random (but clearly audible) noises to make a case for a haunting. In the torture chamber Ashley claimed to have heard a "breath" and immediately afterwards Joe said he felt like something touched him. I wouldn't rule out the cause being an overactive imagination stimulated by Ashley's overactive imagination. Ashley and Joe then traded spots and a short while later she said she thought she felt something touching the back of her knee very lightly. The reason it frustrates me so is that even if someone claims a ghost knocked them to the ground, there's no way to verify it, it's just a personal experience. Then you have something like this, where even if you believed Joe & Ashley were entirely sincere there is every reason to suspect they could be imagining things — and you wonder at how boring the rest of the footage was, that Pilgrim chose to air this.
Later on during the night Ashley was back in the torture chamber with Robb and they both heard what they believed to be a male voice. There were two EVP's in total, one or possibly both came from this portion of the investigation. The first one was alleged to be saying, "It's me" but whatever the cause of the sound it seemed to me that is an abstract interpretation of it because the sound continued for another syllable after the word "me", and frankly that "syllable" made it sound very much like just electronic noise. The second EVP was thought by their host to be the German name "Horst"; this seemed like a decent match to me, but as always it's just a single syllable blip on the recording and it's very likely any number of words could be read into it, and also very likely the source of the noise isn't a word at all but just random noise.
Finally there was a picture that supposedly showed someone sitting in a chair, I didn't see any person in the photo but what I did see was a camera that was performing very poorly in an extreme low-light condition. The photograph looked murky, like billions of other photos taken by millions of other photographers in lighting conditions too low for the camera/lens/settings used. Unimpressive2theMAX!
…and that's all I have to say about that.

The Doctor @ 4:58 pm
Like most of Barrys supercamera shots there are a lot of curious things about them. As Dustin picks them from the menu, we see four shots apparently labeled DSC7297,8,9 & 300.
97 seems to be a standard IR shot BUT it's almost perfectly square – why this would have been croped in this fashion is a mystery.
98 & 99 are strange for what is NOT pointed out -
In 98 what seems to be an old style punching bag has appeared above the chairs left side, and in 99 a roundish head looking thing appears next to it – GHI seems to ignore these abnormalities, which is curious in itself.
Can someone post some good captures of these "ghost images" ?
SparkyWoof @ 5:34 pm
I loved how the "ghosts" they showed have absolutely nothing in them but sever pixelation and generally muddy garbage. i don't think there's anyway anyone can get a reasonably decent picture because of just how freakin messy the pictures looked on tv. i mean i don't have an HD tv so maybe i missed somethin.
Brenda Lee @ 10:26 pm
Speaking of ghost pictures…I couldn't see the figures they were speaking about in the chairs. All I could see were the circles drawn around the chairs. Um. ?
Cheryl H @ 10:36 pm
Brenda apparently Robb couldn't either because (to his credit) in the reveal he said he didn't think the shadowy chair figures were ghosts…just an optical illusion or something.

I was kinda hopeful in the beginning of this season about Ashley-you know, a new face maybe adding a new dimension to the show-but so far I've been dissapointed. Seems she's always getting 'touched' on the back of her leg or knee. More like muscle twitches or a circulation problem. (I get those once in a while. Nothing paranormal.)
Barry and the door- he had his hand on it, and it looked to me like he was tapping on it w/his fingers. What did he expect? I mean, you push a door and it opens. Amazing!
The subtitles don't bother me as much as some of you, because for those of us that don't here as clearly as we used to it can help a lot.

the wording "it's me" seems a bit strange for the 17th Century non-travelling German speaking Austrian ghost to say. i speak German and it sounded like "Hilfe mich" (hill-fer meek) which means help me. This would account for the extra syallable
why ask questions in English to German speaking/understanding ghosts?
