GA: EdinBurgh Vaults – Preview
I didn't realize there was a new episode this week — everyone else seems to be skipping this week's programming but apparently Ghost Adventures is willing to put their ratings on the line during a holiday-week. Even more interesting, apparently their producers decided to shell out the money for them to go overseas to film in Scotland! And then (did I mention?) air it the Friday after a mid-week holiday!
Kidding aside, the low production costs (of operating their own cameras and having no sound guys) might give these investigators a little more financial versatility than TAPS has.
These "Preview" posts will be for discussion of the episode before, during and immediately after air-time but once we get a full review of the investigation posted we'll close down the comments here move the discussion over there.

I plan to be "on duty" this Friday and will have a review ASAP after airing!

You have brought out an excellent point. Not too much to lug around baggage wise and, equally important, less that has to go through airport inspections. And apparently, nobody with a fear of flying, or at least does not make an issue out of it
The history of the Edinburgh vaults is very intriguing, given the amount of investigations that have been conducted within its walls. They almost made a believer out of the heavily skeptic Dr. Wiseman, whose experiment inside the vaults has even him scratching his head and admitting that something is going on there.

I'll try to have review done by tomorrow, but my "instant assessment" is:
Looking at what is supposed to be the most compelling evidence from tonight's visit to Edinburgh, I am reminded of the words a noted philosopher named Elvis Presley uttered back in 1957: "Oh let me be/your teddy bear. . . . "

Interesting episode. It was fun to see Roger, the tour guide we had when we were there, LOL. But seriously, I have to be skeptical about the evidence in this show- especially the dodgy evps. The teddy-bear moving in the White room was interesting and of course the phantom noises of sawing and footfalls as well.
It was good to see that the boys had as hard a time finding Greyfriars as we did, LOL. Too bad they didn’t do more on the Mackenzie poltergeist or go into a bit of history about the Covenentors (the Covenentors Prison is located within the Greyfriar’s cemetery) and the name Greyfriar’s Bobby refers to a dog, actually a statue of a dog. Story is, the dog- even after the demise of his master, would return to the gravesite until his own death… the trouble with the story is that the man (I forgot his name) who owned “Bobby” wasn’t buried at Greyfriars, so in essence the dog was holding vigil at the wrong place. Makes for a great story though and at least the dog got a statue, LOL.
We experienced stone throwing in one of the rooms- I can’t remember which as it was really quite a maze and I was disorientated most of the time. However, my friend Ally got a couple of emf spikes, in conjunction with the sound of a pebble being thrown twice. We have this on video- my friend Pete happened to be filming it at the time. We’ve yet to do an in-depth analysis of the footage and audio- as my friends are at this very moment, back in Edinburgh conducting further investigations.
The one thing that struck me was that one of the women interviewed said what most of the guides I personally interviewed said- that there are times when the vaults and cemetery feel quite peaceful and calming, and then there are other times when the atmosphere is oppressive to the extent that these seasoned guides don’t want to go in. I asked them if they sensed a pattern to this, but they couldn’t figure it out themselves. All I can say is that when we happened to be there, all was quiet and rather comfortable. It was not scary whatsoever and we managed to ingratiate ourselves with some of the guides to the extent that they allowed us to remain in the vaults on our own. Of course, nothing happened, LOL.
I’m keen to go back again and spend more time there. Perhaps I can figure out if there is a pattern to the change of atmosphere. Apparently, when the GA team were there they managed to stir up quite a bit of activity. Whether that was faked and utter rubbish, I cannot say. Or maybe they happened to hit the vaults at the “right” time when it was active. Or maybe Zak’s provoking of Mr. Boots started everything off. Who knows?
I’m glad Zak got a few crap-his-pants moments. I always feel sorry for Aaron LOL. Interesting that Nick got such a bad headache and it seemed to coincide with high emf- although depending on the setting of the Trifield, Zak could have been capturing spikes from the power conduits or even Nick himself, and also I was told that the vaults proximity to Edinburgh University’s current computer lab would account for many anomalous spikes, depending on where one is within the vaults. The locked-off cameras and the one which caught the teddy bear was interesting, but could easily have been hoaxed, as well as the odd shuffling/footfall noises. All the nonsense about Mr. Boots not liking light is rubbish, IMO. The Vaults are LIGHTED for the tours, albeit they’re rather dim fluorescent lights hidden here and there and they have several candles going on during tour hours. And as for the EVPs- they were all really dodgy and I had to review those sections of the show several times to try to make out what they claimed to have heard.

I hope someone on this forum, Mr. Logisti or anyone else, can explain something that has been bothering me for quite some time. I've observed this particular behavior/action by the investigators on GH numerous times and, more recently, on their newest competitor's show, Ghost Adventures. Here's the dilemma:
We've already been told, or had explained and even shown to us on past episodes, how the night vision cameras work and how, when regular light sources are turned off, including ordinary flashlights, the only way the investigators can see ANYTHING, in total darkness, is when they look through the lens of an NV camera. The only other times they can see in the dark is when they illuminate an object or person with their hand-held flashlights. YET, time and again, I've observed interactions between two or more investigators, on either show, when they are supposedly standing or sitting in pitch black conditions and, still, they APPEAR TO BE ABLE TO LOOK STRAIGHT AT EACH OTHER while conversing, pointing at something, etc. and not having to aim their flashlights at each other in order to know exactly where another person is to their proximity! Has anyone else ever wondered about this situation?
When I see things like this it makes me wonder if they really ever are in totally blacked-out conditions. After all, even when the pupil of the eye is at maximum dialation (hope I spelled that right:(), if it's COMPLETELY dark, you ain't gonna see Jack Squat!
Logisti @ 1:24 pm
Hal, I've been caving before and when you are underground, with multiple twists/turns between you and the surface, *that* is when you experience "pitch black". It's extremely rare to ever get close to "pitch black" in a house because just about every room has windows and there is usually some moonlight, if not streetlamps and light from other houses coming in, even when all the lights in the house are turned off.
Probably the only above-ground buildings we've seen them investigate that are likely to have "pitch black" (or close) conditions throughout large portions of the structure are prisons, because of the lack of windows. Also, office buildings & warehouses with large internal rooms that don't border on the outside.
I see that Harry has his write-up finished and waiting to be put LIVE so I'm going to close down the comments here and encourage everyone to continue this discussion on the Full Review of this investigation.
