GH: LeBlanc House

I didn't find this investigation very noteworthy and I wasn't really sure what to say about it. This second-halfer just had me bored stiff, but maybe it's a cumulative effect from some of the really awful investigations we've seen lately. I do have some notes I'd like to share though, so I figured I'd throw up this post before the next investigation airs and we've moved onto bigger and hopefully better things.

This episode had more of Kristyn Gartland in it, and I thought that was good and she was presented well, assuming they intend her to be something of a "regular" with the main TAPS team, it seems like they're finally treating her as somewhat of an equal.  As for her ertwhile fellow short-shrifter, no word yet on whether Joe Chin even exists or perhaps he was just a spirit that wandered into a number of TAPS investigations and amused himself by watching the rest of the team attempting to detect ghosts.

Hey, didn't an EMF detector start going crazy recently when Barry was with Joe?  Hrrrm…

Speaking of EMF detectors, Grant picked a high reading up from an electrical adapter in the kitchen and he said, "If they're spending any amount of time in that part of the kitchen they're going to get some creepy feelings." That's right, just as we're beginning to get a bit tired of them repeatedly pushing the theory that EM fields make you paranoid (something proven possible, but only under extremely rare and generally very controlled conditions) Grant has gone the other way and this is no longer a possibility they're suggesting to clients, it's now apparently a foregone conclusion. "If they're spending any amount of time… they're *going* to get some creepy feelings."  Great. Terrific.

There was also a figure captured on FLIR. I believe there's been some discussion of this in the forums that perhaps it was a reflection off of a poster on the wall?  That would seem to be consistent with the way the anomaly looked. My initial gripe, without having a clue what they may or may not be looking at, was their analysis was dead wrong right from the start. Grant said it "definitely had a human shape and it moves on its own". If that shape was human, then it was mighily distorted, which would be consistent with a reflection from a poster (which always have slight wrinkles in them and reflect oddly) but if you're assuming it's a clean image of an object and not a reflection then it's not human shaped.

Secondly, he asserts that it moves on its own and I believe he says Jay wasn't moving but the camera is clearly moving.  If you look at the slightly darker spots on the footage you can make out the edges of objects, which all move together — because none of them are moving, the camera is.  The anomaly itself may also have been moving (as reflections of people often do) but I couldn't tell because the camera was all over the place — and having seen Jay use that thing for years it's patently absurd for anyone — especially Grant — to suggest Jay is ever holding the camera still.  It's nearly impossible to hold a video camera still even when you're trying to, and Jay never seems to try.

They also caught an EVP… except to me it just sounded like a "WHOOP" sort of digital noise. Still, they seemed to hear "door opened" — which was supposedly in response to Steve & Tango trying to remember if the homeowner had said a certain door opened on him or closed on him as he walked by. The truly odd part was that the owner listened to it and said he recognized the voice (the voice I didn't even hear) as the one he's been hearing around the house. Maybe my ears are just completely gone, but I didn't even hear anything resembling words or a voice.

Perhaps the only interesting piece of evidence to come out of this investigation was a recording of what sounded like some heavy breathing and wheezing from a recorder in the basement. The team had noticed the basement ceiling was scorched and realized there had been a fire, and the discovery of this wheezing seemed to line up with that — then again, maybe a Pilgrim crew member just had a nasal drip.

On the negative side, yes, their EVP was utterly ludicrous. I don't know how else to describe it. It simply wasn't there.

Re the FLIR: I invoke Stephen's Dictum: "You can't debunk crap."

On the positive side, at least I didn't see them try to hoax anything.

Now, Joe Chin being a ghost would be a great, Sixth Sense kind of end to the series. Perhaps he didn't realize that he was dead, and only Krystin and Barry could see him!

Didn't think much of the episode, but as far a KG being an "equal" she is already giving lectures on "Intro to Investigating"

Ca-ching !

Do you think that any one of them would want to stop the train by actually finding a member of their team was faking evidence ?

It struck me as odd that someone with the most extensive colletion of horror memorabilia i've ever seen would think his house is haunted… The scariest thing to probably ever happen in that house was Jay dressing up as Jason and scaring the crap out of Tango…

As Logisti said the only interesting find I feel was the wheezing in the basement. It would've been nice to know if someone had passed away in that fire (to explain why someone would have been wheezing) but according to the owner he couldn't find any info on the house. I find it odd that a entity would be wheezing if he/she hadn't actually passed in the fire. Unless it was a residual sound…

The whole show is dead as they move around like zombies who could care less.I enjoyed the show the first few years when the team showed some life but now EVERY show has something paranormal…funny how things have changed.

All we need now is Chip Coffey,Lorraine Warren,Joshua Warren, hell resurect Ed Warren(now that would be something to see) jump out of the bushes to join the team to complete this fiasco.

I find myself getting pissed off watching them go through there investigations half ass.You would think with the years and experience they have that investigations would have improved but alas, they have not.

I'm so over this show but like a bad accident I can't look away!!

I've been catching up and going over shows from the past years.

Many times during the reveal, especially where a private home is involved, the client is told something to the effect of " if anything happens, give us a call and we will give you the help you need".

Just what it is that TAPS would do ?

Call in the exorcist ?

Just watched LeBlanc House tonight and thought it was dullsville. These guys just do not have anything to say. And, hello, doesn't anyone do any background checking into the home/business they are researching??? Apparently, they do not do any advance work or if they do, it is limited. They didn't even know about the fire.
I usually never see the "shapes" they point out to the home owners nor can u ever clearly hear what is being "said" on their tapes. I did think the sound at the end was creepy- the wheezing, breathing sounds. That seemed legit.

My complaint is that they really don't seem to care anymore.

My daughter can't stand when I critique the show which is every time she is watching it!!
