GHI: Reichenstein Castle
This little gem of an investigation was thrown onto the tail end of the episode with Orava Castle. There were some personal experiences — a couple are actually worth mentioning: Donna kept saying she clearly saw a mist when the entire Ghost Hunters International team was in the "Ancestors Room" together, but nothing came out on the video or the many photos she took.
In that same room Andy seemed to have an experience that corroborated Donna's mist, saying he felt something touch him on the shoulder just as Donna was saying the Mist was coming up behind him. He felt it important to mention that he rarely reports being touched (subtext mine: unlike some of the other members of his team) and he always looks first for the alternative explanation — brushing past a piece of furniture, etc. It's a fair point and I'm inclined to take Andy's personal experiences more seriously than some reported by others.
In the end though, there was absolutely no evidence at the reveal, zero. Occasionally this has happened on Ghost Hunters, although it does sometimes coincide with a homeowner who is scared and reacts favorably to the lack of haunting, which some might consider suspicious or too convenient. In fairness though, a couple of times they've seriously deflated people.
In this case, their host was ultimately relieved that they didn't find anything, but from his first on-camera interview right through the beginning of the Reveal he seemed extremely excited by the idea that they might find some of the Ghosts other people have reported to him. Only after soaking in the news that there wasn't even a single measly, static-filled EVP did his disappointment change to respect for the job the team did and relief (because he's often alone in the castle at night).
The big story here is Andy Andrews. While they were reviewing the evidence he made a point to say that, yeah they all had personal experiences and that's great but that's not why they're out there investigating — it's all about the evidence. When they came up dry he also made it clear that he was very disappointed, especially considering how he felt about his own personal experience, but that no evidence is no evidence and in the end that's the only thing that counts.
It seems to me that as we see more and more of the folks at TAPS and their Europe-exploring cousins nearly every single investigator has shown an increasing willingness to overstate the evidence and overlook alternative explanations but Andy — who at first impression a few years back seemed a little overeager for my liking — has really impressed me and earned a little bit more respect and trust with each investigation.
Don't get me wrong, I'll examine anything he puts forth as evidence with every bit of criticality it deserves, but I'll enjoy it more because I know that whatever evidence he thinks is impressive is far more likely to impress (or at least confound) me than the average piece evidence cited at the end of many investigations. I hesitate to say this, but it's an exact fit for the sentiment I want to express: Thanks for keeping it real, Andy.

I really have to question why these two investigations were played in this order. When they went to the Reichenstein Castle investigation with only about 20 minutes left in the show, you knew they weren't gong to find anything. It seems it would have kept the suspense if they had reversed the order.
I have to agree about Andy. He's still a bit annoying, but he's about the only one who hasn't freaked from seeing a shadow or left an area because he 'feels' something.

You think they thought of the fact that talking to 11th century Germans in English will not get them anywhere as far as EVPs go?
Logisti @ 4:00 pm
I rode that horse into Romania and beat it to death there. Dragging it into Germany just seemed cruel.

Don't feel bad, Logisti, it didn't understand English anyway, so it deserved to die…………….HEY! Now that it's dead, maybe is DOES…..naaahhh, that only happens on cheesy reality TV shows.

"…it didn't understand English anyway, so it deserved to die…"
Remind me never to ask you about immigration reform

OK. Before THIS goes too far…
It was a joke. I was playing-off of the fact that GHI does everything in English – as if everyone, or at least every ghost, is suppose to know English.
Kevin @ 9:17 pm
Maybe English is the official language of the spirit world.
Logisti @ 1:22 am
CrowTRobot — I know, just making a joke of my own

Logisti, I wasn't sure. I don't use smiley faces so sometimes my humor is missed. (Ok, ok, sometimes it's missed even WITH smiley faces.)
Kevin, I don't know what language they speak, but one thing we DO know – They don't get cable TV. Any self respecting ghost that had seen GHI would be SOOOOO up in Shannon's face. And when MY time comes, if I'm a wondering spirit, I'm going after that bimbo on Most Haunted.

They dont do everything in English. Barry often speaks and does his evp sessions with the language of the country they are in.
bullerspoke @ 4:05 am
It is true that Barry does occasion does a few questions in the native tongue, but I wouldn't call it often. And furthermost, he is the only one who does that, the rest run around speaking their respectively accentuated version of american. And it is, imo, common sense to learn atleast a few lines of german, french, italian and russian when going to hunt for ghosts in Europe.

I just posted under "Frankenstein's Castle" that they really should have someone translate the questions they ask into the appropriate language. Subtitles could always be put on the screen for viewers to know what they are saying.
